Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Nexturn SA45XII that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Nexturn SA45XII shares a brochure with the small X machines but is a different kind of lathe: 45 mm (1.8 in) bar, only 120 mm (4.7 in) of turning length, and an 11 / 15 kW (14.8 / 20.1 hp) main spindle limited to 6,000 rpm. It has eight axes, 24 tools and a FANUC 0iTF control.
The short stroke defines the work. A 45 mm bar turned over 120 mm is a stout part, a fitting, a valve body or a hub, and the machine is equipped for that. Nexturn lists built-in motors for main and sub spindle on this model, a hydraulic disc brake in place of the pneumatic brake of the SA32XII, and a hydraulic cylinder chucking system that it says is there for stable cutting at maximum diameter. The bar remnant is given as less than 70 mm.
Power rises steeply from the smaller sizes. The SA32XII has 3.7 / 7.5 kW (5.0 / 10.1 hp); this machine has 11 / 15 kW, with 2.2 / 5.5 kW (3.0 / 7.4 hp) on the sub spindle. Tool shanks grow to □20 × 125 mm (0.8 × 4.9 in), on-centre drilling to 16 mm (0.6 in) with M12 tapping, and the coolant pump to 1.5 kW (2.0 hp). Rapid traverse drops to 24 m/min.
Fewer tools fit around the larger bar. The table lists five OD tools, four cross tools and seven ID tools, three of them live, with eight back-end tools as Live 4 and Fixed 4 and no front-end face tools for the sub spindle. The cross unit keeps its 1.0 kW (1.3 hp) motor, so cross drilling is held to 13 mm (0.5 in) and M10. The machine weighs 4,000 kg (8,818 lb).

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 11 / 15 kW (14.8 / 20.1 hp) main spindle, twice the upper rating of the SA32XII
- Built-in motors on main and sub spindle with a hydraulic disc brake
- Hydraulic cylinder chucking system for cutting at full bar diameter
- Bar remnant stated as less than 70 mm
- Seven ID tool positions, three of them live, and up to eight back-end tools
Limitations
- Turning length is 120 mm (4.7 in), far short of the 270 mm (10.6 in) of the SA32XII
- Spindle speed is limited to 6,000 rpm
- Cross unit is 1.0 kW (1.3 hp) with four tools; the SA51XII has 2.2 kW (3.0 hp)
- No front-end face tools are listed for the sub spindle
- Rapid traverse is 24 m/min, slower than the SA32XII's 32 m/min

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The table simply lists 120 mm (4.7 in) for the SA45XII against 270 mm (10.6 in) for the SA32XII, without giving a reason. The SA45XII is laid out for short, heavy parts, with hydraulic chucking and a bar remnant under 70 mm.
02
They are built-in motors, 11 / 15 kW (14.8 / 20.1 hp) on the main spindle and 2.2 / 5.5 kW (3.0 / 7.4 hp) on the sub spindle, both limited to 6,000 rpm. Nexturn fits a hydraulic disc brake and a hydraulic cylinder chucking system on this model, and an oil cooling system for the main spindle.
03
24. Five are OD tools on □20 × 125 mm (0.8 × 4.9 in) shanks, four are cross tools, seven are ID tools including three live, and eight are back-end face tools (Live 4, Fixed 4). The eight-position back unit is the optional one; the standard back tool unit is Live 2, Fixed 2.
04
2,400 × 1,350 × 1,900 mm (94.5 × 53.1 × 74.8 in) and 4,000 kg (8,818 lb) net. The spindle centre height is 1,100 mm (43.3 in), higher than on the smaller X machines, and the coolant tank holds 300 L.
