Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Nexturn NST45 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Nexturn NST45 combines a 12 station turret, a gang type tool post and a sub spindle on one bar machine, run as three paths by a FANUC 31i-B. It takes 45 mm (1.8 in) bar and has a turning length of 340 mm (13.4 in), the longest in Nexturn's lineup. Nexturn lists it with its Swiss-type automatic lathes, though the tooling is closer to a multi-axis turning centre.
That 340 mm figure is what sets the NST45 apart inside its own family. The NST56 and NST67 are listed at 150 mm (5.9 in), so the 45 mm model is the one for shafts, and it is also the fastest of the three at 6,000 rpm on main and sub spindle. Its main motor is the smallest, 7.5 / 11 kW (10.1 / 14.8 hp), with 2.2 / 5.5 kW (3.0 / 7.4 hp) on the sub spindle.
Three tool carriers share the work. The gang post in front holds four OD tools and four cross live tools. The turret has 12 stations, and Nexturn states that live tooling can be applied at all of them, at up to 6,000 rpm and with drilling to 16 mm (0.6 in) and M12. Behind the part, a back working station carries seven tools, four fixed and three live. Turning tools throughout use □20 × 125 mm (0.8 × 4.9 in) shanks. The brochure puts the maximum at 39 tools mounted.
This is a much heavier machine than the SA types. It weighs 6,000 kg (13,228 lb), needs a 45 kVA supply and carries 450 L of coolant plus a 12 L cooling oil circuit for the spindle. Overall dimensions are not among the listed figures, so ask Nexturn for a layout drawing.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 340 mm (13.4 in) of turning length on 45 mm (1.8 in) bar
- 12 station turret with live tooling available at every station, plus a gang tool post and a back working station
- Three-path control on eleven axes with a FANUC 31i-B
- 6,000 rpm on main spindle, sub spindle, cross spindles and turret live tools
- Hydraulic disc brake and oil cooling system on the main spindle
Limitations
- Main spindle motor is 7.5 / 11 kW (10.1 / 14.8 hp), below the 11 / 15 kW (14.8 / 20.1 hp) of the NST56
- At 6,000 kg (13,228 lb) and 45 kVA it asks far more of the floor and the supply than an SA machine
- Back-end face drilling is limited to 13 mm (0.5 in) and M10
- Overall machine dimensions are not among the listed figures and have to be requested

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Nexturn groups it with its CNC Swiss-type automatic lathes, and it feeds bar up to 45 mm (1.8 in) with 340 mm (13.4 in) of turning length. Its tooling, a 12 station turret beside a gang type tool post and a sub spindle under three-path control, is what the brochure calls a multi axis turning center.
02
The table lists four OD and four cross live tools on the front gang post, 12 turret stations and seven back-end face tools (four fixed, three live). Nexturn states that complete machining is possible by mounting a maximum of 39 tools, which implies more than one tool at some stations.
03
The NST45 is the long-part model: 340 mm (13.4 in) of turning length at 6,000 rpm with a 7.5 / 11 kW (10.1 / 14.8 hp) main spindle. The NST56 takes 56 mm (2.2 in) bar but turns only 150 mm (5.9 in), at 5,000 rpm, with 11 / 15 kW (14.8 / 20.1 hp), and weighs 6,400 kg (14,109 lb).
04
Live tools in the turret run at up to 6,000 rpm and are listed for drilling to 16 mm (0.6 in) and tapping to M12. Nexturn describes the turret as having an independent drive and a non lifting, servo motor indexing structure. The cross and back tools unit motors are 2.2 kW (3.0 hp) / 1.0 kW (1.3 hp).
