Star SV-38R

The Star SV-38R is Star Micronics' high-performance Swiss-type CNC automatic lathe for the 38mm bar capacity class, representing the most capable large-format Swiss-type machine in Star's lineup. The SV (High-Performance) designation combined with the R (Revised) suffix indicates a machine designed for the most demanding applications at the upper end of the Swiss-type size range, where heavy cuts on tough materials meet exacting precision requirements.

The SV-38R features a powerful main spindle reaching 8,000 RPM with substantially higher torque than the SR-38J, enabling aggressive material removal on larger-diameter bar stock in stainless steel, titanium, Inconel, and other demanding aerospace and medical alloys. The back spindle reaches 8,000 RPM for matched front and back performance, and the high-speed live tooling at 8,000 RPM enables aggressive milling operations. With up to 10 axes including dual Y-axis capability, the SV-38R provides comprehensive multi-tasking capability.

At 38mm bar capacity, the SV-38R occupies a unique position in the machine tool market. It's larger than most Swiss-type lathes, giving it access to parts that conventional Swiss shops can't handle, while its Swiss-type architecture delivers precision and surface finish quality that conventional CNC lathes struggle to match on longer shaft-type components.
