We do not have a price for the Monforts UniCen 1000 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Monforts UniCen 1000 is a turn-mill centre with an integrated B-axis, built on a slant-bed lathe with a turning diameter of 1,000 mm (39.4 in). Turning length is 800 mm (31.5 in) or 1,500 mm (59.1 in), and swing over the cross slide is 800 mm (31.5 in). Monforts sells it in the MultiTurn version only, with a Siemens control.
Where the brand's turret lathes mill with driven VDI tools, the UniCen carries a milling head on the B-axis. Its drive is rated 36.6 kW (49.1 hp) at 100% ED with a maximum speed of 7,000 rpm, and it takes HSK-A63 tools, or Capto as an optional version. Monforts states that up to 5 axes can interpolate simultaneously, and the Y-axis is included, not an option.
Tools come from an NC-controlled magazine through a tool changer. The table lists 36 tool places, with 60 or 90 as optional versions; the brochure text also mentions a disc magazine with 30 slots and a tool drawer for loading the magazine.
The turning side is the same class as the MNC 1000: an A15 nose, a draw tube of 126 mm (5.0 in) inside diameter and a Siemens main drive of 44 kW (59.0 hp) at 100% ED, with 58 kW (77.8 hp) and 81 kW (108.6 hp) as optional versions. Maximum torque is 7,563 Nm (5,578 lb-ft) in an optional version. Turning is 2-axis as standard and 4-axis as an option, and a tailstock or counter spindle and a steady rest or bottom slide can be added. Z runs on a hydrostatic guide.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- B-axis milling head with 36.6 kW (49.1 hp) at 100% ED and 7,000 rpm, for milling in up to 5 axes simultaneously
- Turning diameter of 1,000 mm (39.4 in) with 800 mm (31.5 in) or 1,500 mm (59.1 in) of turning length
- Tool magazine with 36 places as listed, and 60 or 90 as optional versions
- Y-axis is included in the base machine
- Main drive options up to 81 kW (108.6 hp) and 7,563 Nm (5,578 lb-ft)
Limitations
- Available with a Siemens control only; the feature list names no alternative
- The B-axis head tops out at 7,000 rpm, modest for small cutters in aluminium
- Counter spindle, tailstock, steady rest and bottom slide are all options
- The 7,563 Nm (5,578 lb-ft) torque figure applies to an optional drive version

Frequently Asked Questions
01
A turning/milling centre with an integrated B-axis. Monforts lists turning as 2-axis standard with 4-axis as an option, positioning drilling and milling with a holding brake, and milling in up to 5 axes simultaneously. The aim is to finish a workpiece in a single clamping operation.
02
The table gives the B-axis drive as 36.6 kW (49.1 hp) at 100% ED with a maximum speed of 7,000 rpm. The tool holder is HSK-A63, with Capto as an optional version; the brochure text names Capto C6.
03
The table lists 36 tool places as standard and 60 or 90 as optional versions. The brochure text describes an NC-controlled chain magazine or disc magazine linked to the tool head by a tool changer, with 36 or 30 slots in the standard version, and a tool drawer for changing tools in the magazine.
04
Turning diameter and swing over the bed are both 1,000 mm (39.4 in), swing over the cross slide is 800 mm (31.5 in), and turning length is 800 mm (31.5 in) or 1,500 mm (59.1 in). The spindle has an A15 nose and a 126 mm (5.0 in) draw tube.
05
They share the A15 spindle class and the 44 kW (59.0 hp) base Siemens drive. The MNC 1000 is a turret lathe with a 12 x VDI 60 turret and optional driven tools. The UniCen 1000 replaces that with a B-axis milling head, HSK-A63 tooling from a magazine, and a Y-axis as standard.
