Overview

The Mazak INTEGREX i-100ST NEO is the highest-capability variant of the compact i-100 NEO platform, combining a sub-spindle (S) and lower turret (T) with the upper B-axis milling head for true simultaneous multi-tasking.

The i-100ST NEO runs a 6-inch main chuck with a maximum machining diameter of 600 mm (23.62 in) and maximum machining length of 850 mm (33.46 in). The Y-axis provides 210 mm (8.27 in) of travel. The main spindle delivers 18.5 kW (25 hp) at 5,000 RPM. The upper milling spindle operates at 12,000 RPM standard (20,000 RPM optional) with HSK-A40 and 240-degree B-axis range.

The lower turret is the ST variant defining addition. While the upper milling head handles 5-axis contouring, the lower turret performs simultaneous turning: OD roughing, grooving, threading, or boring. This delivers 30-40% cycle time reduction vs the i-100S.

The NEO generation brings MAZATROL SmoothAi with Ai Thermal Shield, compact milling head, and front-mounted tool magazine.

The i-100ST NEO competes with the DMG Mori NTX 1000 with lower turret and Okuma Multus B200II ST. New machines price between $400,000 and $520,000.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Simultaneous upper milling and lower turret cutting reduces cycle times 30-40%
  • Sub-spindle + lower turret + B-axis head provides the most complete multi-tasking in a compact 6-inch platform
  • NEO generation SmoothAi with Ai Thermal Shield manages thermal drift during long simultaneous cycles
  • Lower turret handles turning while upper head performs 5-axis milling simultaneously
  • Compact footprint delivers 9+ axis multi-tasking previously requiring larger machines
  • SmoothAi with collision avoidance manages four simultaneous motion groups

Limitations

  • Dollar 400K-520K is substantial for a compact machine requiring high-value parts to justify
  • 9+ axis programming requires significant CAM investment and 3-6 months learning curve
  • HSK-A40 limits tool size for heavy roughing vs larger ST variants with HSK-A63
  • 6-inch chuck constrains workpiece size; the i-200ST NEO offers more capacity

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the difference between i-100S NEO and i-100ST NEO?

The i-100ST NEO adds a lower turret for simultaneous cutting, reducing cycle times by 30-40%. Adds approximately $60,000-$70,000.

02 What does a new i-100ST NEO cost?

Start around $400,000. Production-ready configs run $470,000-$520,000.

03 How complex is programming?

One of the more complex compact multi-tasking machines. Verified ST post processors essential. Budget 3-6 months.

04 Can it run lights-out?

Yes. With bar feeder, sub-spindle, parts catcher, and SmoothAi tool life management.
