Overview

The MCM TANK 1900 EVO is the largest machining center in the TANK EVO line: a horizontal machine with 1,900 mm (74.8 in) of X, 1,400 mm (55.1 in) of Y and 1,960 mm (77.2 in) of Z. Those three figures are identical in the 4-Axes, 5-Axes and 5-Axes Multitasking columns.

That uniformity is the practical difference from the TANK 1600 EVO, where the 4-Axes machine stops at 1,500 mm (59.1 in) of Z and the longer strokes belong to the 5-axis versions. Here a plain 4-axis buyer gets the full 1,960 mm, close to the X stroke itself, which suits long parts set along the spindle axis and deep bores reached with extended tooling.

Pallets are sized to match. The milling versions take 1,000 x 1,000 mm (39.3 x 39.3 in) or 1,250 x 1,250 mm (49.2 x 49.2 in). The Multitasking version takes Ø 1,250 mm (Ø 49.2 in) or Ø 1,400 mm (Ø 55.1 in) and is listed with a table speed of 500 min-1, against 20 / 40 min-1 on the milling tables. A round pallet of that diameter at that speed is turning-lathe territory, so check clamping and balance limits with MCM for the parts you have in mind.

Five-axis versions use the TANK tilting head, 175 degrees (+80/-95). Rapid feed is 50 m/min (1,968.5 ipm). Tapers are HSK, ISO or CAPTO, with a magazine of "up to 80 (999)" tools as printed.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 1,960 mm (77.2 in) of Z travel in every configuration, including the 4-Axes machine
  • Largest pallets of the TANK EVO line: up to 1,250 x 1,250 mm (49.2 x 49.2 in) square or Ø 1,400 mm (Ø 55.1 in) round
  • Multitasking table speed of 500 min-1 for turning and grinding
  • Tilting head with 175 degrees of travel (+80/-95) on the 5-axis versions
  • Same 50 m/min (1,968.5 ipm) rapid feed as the smaller TANK 1300 EVO

Limitations

  • Y travel is 1,400 mm (55.1 in), no more than the 4-Axes TANK 1600 EVO, so the machine grows in length and depth but not in height
  • The smallest pallet is 1,000 x 1,000 mm (39.3 x 39.3 in), which is a lot of pallet for small parts
  • Pallet load is not published, which matters most on a machine of this size
  • Spindle power, torque and machine weight have to be requested

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How big is the work area of the TANK 1900 EVO?

X is 1,900 mm (74.8 in), Y is 1,400 mm (55.1 in) and Z is 1,960 mm (77.2 in). MCM prints the same three figures for the 4-Axes, 5-Axes and 5-Axes Multitasking configurations. Rapid feed on all three axes is 50 m/min (1,968.5 ipm).

02 What is the largest pallet on the TANK 1900 EVO?

On the milling versions, 1,250 x 1,250 mm (49.2 x 49.2 in), listed as the second option after 1,000 x 1,000 mm (39.3 x 39.3 in). On the Multitasking version, a round Ø 1,400 mm (Ø 55.1 in) pallet, after Ø 1,250 mm (Ø 49.2 in). The table gives no load rating for any of them.

03 Does the TANK 1900 EVO do turning?

In the 5-Axes Multitasking configuration, yes: MCM lists milling, turning and grinding, with a maximum B-axis rotation speed of 500 min-1. The 4-Axes and 5-Axes configurations are for milling and their table speed row reads 20 / 40 min-1.

04 What comes after the TANK 1900 EVO if a part is too big for it?

MCM's next step is the TANK.G line. The TANK.G 2000 has 2,000 mm (78.7 in) of X and Z, and its 4-Axes version has 2,000 mm (78.7 in) of Y where this machine has 1,400 mm (55.1 in). The TANK.G 2000 is slower in rapid feed, at 45 m/min (1,771.7 ipm).
