MCM TANK.G 3000 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the MCM TANK.G 3000 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from MCM or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The MCM TANK.G 3000 is the largest machine of the TANK.G line: a horizontal machining center with 3,000 mm (118.1 in) of X travel and 2,500 mm (98.4 in) on both Y and Z. It is a milling machine only. MCM lists 4-Axes and 5-Axes configurations and leaves the Multitasking column empty.

At this size the axes are no longer equal in speed. The rapid feed row reads 40 – 40 – 32 m/min (1,574.8 – 1,574.8 – 1,259.8 ipm) for X, Y and Z, the only model in MCM's range where the table separates them. The B-axis is slow as well, at 8 / 15 min-1. Both point the same way: this is a machine for big, heavy workpieces, where cycle time is made in the cut and not in positioning moves.

Pallets are 1,250 x 1,250 mm (49.2 x 49.2 in) or 1,250 x 1,600 mm (49.2 x 63.0 in). The rectangular one is unique to this model in the TANK.G table, and neither round pallet of the smaller sizes is offered, which fits a machine that does not turn. Unlike on the TANK.G 2600, the 5-Axes version keeps the full Y stroke. Its tilting head has the same 175 degree range (+80/-95).

Tool tapers are HSK or ISO; CAPTO, listed on the smaller TANK.G sizes, is not in this table. Magazine capacity is printed as "up to 80 (999)". Single-Pallet, Twin-Pallet, Multi-Pallet and FMS layouts are all listed.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 3,000 mm (118.1 in) of X with 2,500 mm (98.4 in) of both Y and Z
  • The 5-Axes version keeps the same travels as the 4-Axes version
  • Rectangular 1,250 x 1,600 mm (49.2 x 63.0 in) pallet as the second option
  • Tilting head with 175 degrees of travel (+80/-95) for 5-axis milling
  • Can be built as a Twin-Pallet or Multi-Pallet machine or into an FMS despite its size

Limitations

  • No Multitasking version: the table lists milling only, so there is no turning or grinding
  • Z rapid feed is 32 m/min (1,259.8 ipm), below the 40 m/min (1,574.8 ipm) of X and Y
  • B-axis speed is 8 / 15 min-1, the lowest in the TANK.G line
  • Only HSK and ISO tapers are listed

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How large is the working area of the TANK.G 3000?

X travel is 3,000 mm (118.1 in), Y is 2,500 mm (98.4 in) and Z is 2,500 mm (98.4 in). The figures are the same for the 4-Axes and 5-Axes configurations. MCM calls it the largest machining center of the TANK.G line.

02 What are the rapid feeds of the TANK.G 3000?

The X/Y/Z rapid feed row reads 40 – 40 – 32 m/min (1,574.8 – 1,574.8 – 1,259.8 ipm). Read in the order of the row label, that is 40 m/min on X and Y and 32 m/min on Z. The B-axis rotary table is listed at 8 / 15 min-1.

03 Is there a multitasking TANK.G 3000?

Not in MCM's table. The 5-Axes Multitasking column is filled with dashes for this size, and the process technology listed for the 4-Axes and 5-Axes versions is milling. The smaller TANK.G 2600 is the largest size listed with turning and grinding.

04 Which pallets and tool tapers does it use?

Pallets are 1,250 x 1,250 mm (49.2 x 49.2 in), or 1,250 x 1,600 mm (49.2 x 63.0 in) as the second option. Tool tapers are HSK or ISO. Magazine capacity is printed as "up to 80 (999)", with a footnote mark whose text is not on the page.
