Overview

The Mazak INTEGREX e-V is the large-capacity vertical multi-tasking platform for workpieces exceeding the i-V’s size range. Models handle parts up to 3,500 mm (137.8 in) diameter and 1,800 mm (70.87 in) height, built for the biggest vertical multi-tasking applications in aerospace, energy, and heavy industry.

Three sizes: e-1250V/8 (1,450 mm/57.09 in diameter), e-1600V/10 (2,300 mm/90.55 in), and e-1850V/12 (3,500 mm/137.8 in). Heights 1,600-1,800 mm. All use CAT 50 tooling. Table speeds: 500 RPM (e-1250V), 300 RPM (e-1600V), 250 RPM or 75 RPM (e-1850V).

Each model comes in 2-pallet changer and S (single-pallet) versions. The 2-pallet minimizes non-cutting time by loading next workpiece during machining. MAZATROL SmoothAi with Ai Thermal Shield manages thermal compensation across large machine structures.

Competes with Doerries Scharmann, Toshulin, and Pietro Carnaghi VTLs but adds full 5-axis milling those pure VTLs lack. New machines range from $800,000 (e-1250V/8) to over $2,000,000 (loaded e-1850V). Specs sourced from Mazak published data.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Workpiece diameters up to 3,500 mm (137.8 in) for the largest vertical multi-tasking applications
  • Full 5-axis capability combines large-diameter turning with milling that dedicated VTLs lack
  • 2-pallet changer maximizes spindle utilization at this machine’s hourly operating cost
  • CAT 50 across all models for rigidity on large steel, titanium, and Inconel components
  • Gravity-loaded fixturing and excellent chip evacuation for heavy workpieces
  • SmoothAi with Ai Thermal Shield manages thermal compensation across large structures
  • Eliminates part transfer between VTL and 5-axis mill, saving hours per workpiece

Limitations

  • $800K to over $2M is among the most expensive machines in Mazak’s lineup
  • Footprint and weight demand professionally engineered foundations and overhead crane capacity
  • Table speeds 75-500 RPM limit small-diameter turning; optimized for large-diameter only
  • Lead times often exceed 12 months, larger models 18+ months
  • Scarce service technicians outside major metro areas for machines this size

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What does an e-V cost?

e-1250V/8 starts around $800K. e-1600V/10 $1M-$1.5M. e-1850V/12 above $1.5M, can exceed $2M loaded. Typically financed over 7-10 years.

02 e-V vs i-V?

Choose e-V when workpieces exceed 1,500 mm (59 in) diameter. i-V tops out at 1,700 mm; e-V starts at 1,450 mm and extends to 3,500 mm. e-V is larger, heavier, more expensive.

03 2-pallet vs S?

2-pallet loads next workpiece during machining. S has direct table access at lower price. At this machine’s hourly cost, pallet changer’s productivity gain usually justifies extra investment for production.

04 Foundation requirements?

Professionally engineered reinforced concrete for combined weight of 50,000+ kg machine plus max workpiece. Foundation engineering included in Mazak quotation. Plan 3-6 months for foundation work.

05 e-V vs dedicated VTL?

e-V adds full 5-axis milling that VTLs lack. Dedicated VTL may offer similar turning capacity cheaper, but requires separate 5-axis mill for milling operations. e-V eliminates part transfer.
