Overview

The Willemin-Macodel 808MT2 is a bar-fed multi-process machine scaled down to 1.4 m² of floor. It mills and turns from Ø27 mm bar with linear motors on X, Y and Z and torque motors on both rotary axes, inside a cabinet 980 mm wide.

Bar stock runs through the horizontal A axis on an A3 cone. The axis turns at up to 10,000 rpm, well above the 6,000 min-1 of the 408MT, and its continuous torque is listed as 12 Nm / 18.1 Nm. Small diameters need that speed to reach a sensible surface speed, which is the reasoning behind the pairing of a small bar with a fast axis.

Milling is done by an HSK-A25 spindle on a B axis that swings from -45° to +120° with 24 Nm of continuous torque. The spindle delivers 8.3 kW in S1 and 12.5 kW in S6, 3 Nm and 4.5 Nm of torque, and 42,000 min-1 with 60,000 min-1 in brackets. Travels are 250 mm in X, 120 mm in Y and 210 mm in Z at 60 m/min.

For the cut-off side Willemin-Macodel describes a 2-position pick-up unit, 0° or 90°, with a hydraulic or pneumatic pick-up vise. The magazine has 74 tool positions, or 137 as the bracketed figure, for tools up to Ø35 mm and 1 kg, and changes chip to chip in under 5 sec. The table also covers services: 80 L of oil, 40 L/min of coolant flow, programmable high pressure up to 80 bar and a 50 bar hydraulic pack. No numerical control is named on the page.

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What bar capacity does the 808MT2 have?

The maximum bar passage is Ø27 mm on an A3 cone. The A axis is driven by a torque motor, turns at up to 10,000 rpm in turning mode and has a continuous torque listed as 12 Nm / 18.1 Nm.

02 How powerful is the 808MT2 milling spindle?

8.3 kW in S1 and 12.5 kW in S6, with 3 Nm and 4.5 Nm of torque. The interface is HSK-A25, the standard maximum speed is 42,000 min-1 and 60,000 min-1 is printed in brackets. Lubrication is air-oil and DTS thermal stabilization is integrated.

03 How does the 808MT2 compare with the 408MT?

The 408MT is the larger machine: Ø36 mm bar, 250 mm, 200 mm and 310 mm of travel and an HSK-E40 spindle on 3 m². The 808MT2 takes Ø27 mm bar, travels 250 mm, 120 mm and 210 mm, uses HSK-A25 tooling and needs 1.4 m². Its linear axes feed at 60 m/min, where the 408MT lists 40 m/min.

04 What coolant and chip equipment is specified for the 808MT2?

A 50 L chip bin with 200 µm filtration, an oil pan holding 80 L, an irrigation flow rate of 40 L/min and programmable high-pressure coolant from 0 to 80 bar at 4 L/min. The hydraulic power pack operates at 50 bar.
