Overview
The Mazak INTEGREX i-630V/6 is a vertical multi-tasking machine combining vertical turning with full 5-axis milling center capability for large disc-shaped, flanged, and heavy-base components. The workpiece sits on a vertical rotary table with the milling spindle operating from above, providing gravity-loaded fixturing and excellent chip evacuation.
The vertical rotary table accommodates workpieces up to 1,050 mm (41.34 in) in diameter and 1,000 mm (39.37 in) in height, spinning at up to 550 RPM through a CAT 50 interface. The milling spindle runs at 12,000 RPM with the rigidity of a No. 50 taper for heavy-duty milling on large parts in steel, stainless, and titanium.
The i-630V/6 uses a 6-axis configuration with simultaneous 5-axis milling and turning capability. The vertical orientation means gravity holds the workpiece, simplifying fixturing on heavy or irregularly shaped parts. An optional 2-pallet changer reduces load/unload time impact on machine utilization.
Available with single pallet (i-630V/6) or with pallet changer (i-630V/6S reaching 1,250 mm diameter). SmoothAi CNC with Ai Thermal Shield. Machine weight approximately 25,000 kg (55,116 lb). New machines $500,000-$750,000. Competitors include the DMG Mori NTX vertical and Okuma VTM series.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Vertical orientation provides gravity-loaded fixturing for heavy disc and flanged components up to 1,050 mm diameter
- CAT 50 milling spindle provides maximum rigidity for heavy milling on large steel and titanium parts
- Excellent chip evacuation with vertical spindle orientation prevents recutting
- Simultaneous 5-axis combines vertical turning with full milling center contouring capability
- Clear operator line-of-sight improves setup confidence and process monitoring
- Optional 2-pallet changer reduces load/unload downtime for production environments
Limitations
- Vertical orientation limits maximum workpiece height compared to horizontal machines
- 550 RPM table speed limits turning performance on small-diameter features
- Starting at $500K is significant investment for vertical multi-tasking
- 25,000 kg requires engineered foundations and overhead crane for workpiece loading

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Base starts around $500,000. With pallet changer and full options runs $650K-$750K.
02
The i-630V/6 is larger: 1,050 mm vs 730 mm max diameter, CAT 50 vs CAT 40 taper, 550 vs 1,000 RPM table speed. Choose i-630V/6 for parts exceeding 29 inches diameter.
03
Gravity holds the workpiece, simplifying fixturing on heavy or oddly-shaped parts. Excellent chip evacuation. Clear line-of-sight. Ideal for disc, flange, and ring-type components.
04
Optional 2-pallet system enables loading one part while the other machines. Increases utilization to 85%+ in production environments.
