Everything about the Machitech Fiber Prime XL 12x120 is the largest figure in Machitech's laser tables. Sheet length is 1,512 in (38,400 mm), sheet width 159 in (4,050 mm), and the workpiece weight is 235,230 lbs (106,700 kg).
It is the only XL that is wider than the others, and the wider bridge shows in two numbers. Acceleration drops to 0.85 G, where the four narrower sizes are listed at 1 G. Machine weight rises to 195,770 lbs (88,100 kg), more than twice that of the Fiber Prime XL 10x80 at 92,600 lbs (41,660 kg). Rapid speed is unchanged at 4,450 ipm (110 m/min).
Plate of this width is specialist material: hull and deck plate, tank shells, large pressure parts. Such work is thick, and it is bevelled. The source range of 12 to 60 kW and the bevel head are therefore the relevant features, and the thickness table is the same as on the smaller machines, up to 4 in (100 mm) in mild steel, stainless steel and aluminum at 60 kW.
An installation on this scale is a building project. The machine is 259 in (6,580 mm) wide and 100 in (2,550 mm) high. For total length the maker's table prints inch and millimetre figures that contradict each other, so the row is omitted here. Fume is moved across the bed by a blower and an exhaust fan to the dust collector, and three laser radars guard the travelling bridge. Multiple sheets can be laid on a continuous or separated bed, with a lights out mode as an option.
