Overview
The Litz LH-300 is the smallest horizontal machining center in the LH series: a twin-pallet machine with 320 x 320 mm (12.6 x 12.6 in) pallets, a No.30 taper spindle at 15,000 rpm and travels of 460 mm (18.1 in) in X and Y and 350 mm (13.8 in) in Z.
A 30-taper horizontal is a production tool for small aluminium and die-cast parts. The spindle is direct-drive with 70 Nm (52 lb-ft) of maximum torque from a 7.5 / 11 kW (10.1 / 14.8 hp) motor, the rapids are 48,000 mm/min (1,890 ipm), and the rotary pallet changer swaps pallets in 10 s. Everything is tuned to keep the spindle cutting and the operator loading.
Pallet indexing is 0.001° as standard, so the fourth axis can position to any angle and not only to whole degrees, which is unusual at this size and useful for angled ports and cross holes. Each pallet carries 250 kg (551 lb) and a workpiece up to 430 mm (16.9 in) in diameter and 550 mm (21.7 in) high.
The magazine holds 30 BBT-30 tools with random selection. Tools are limited to 5 kg (11 lb), 210 mm (8.3 in) in length and 60 mm (2.4 in) in diameter, or 100 mm (3.9 in) with empty neighbours. A chip conveyor and overhead chip wash-down system are standard. Coolant through the spindle is optional. Control is FANUC 0i-MD, and the machine weighs 7,000 kg (15,432 lb).
