How much does the Litz LT-400M cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Litz LT-400M that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Litz LT-400M is an 8 in (203 mm) chuck turning centre with a C axis and a 12-station live turret, so cross holes, flats and keyways are cut in the same clamping as the turning. Turning capacity is 215 mm (8.5 in) in diameter and 530 mm (20.9 in) in length, with 52 mm (2.0 in) bar capacity.
All 12 stations can drive a tool. The milling motor is rated 3.7 / 5.5 kW (5.0 / 7.4 hp) and 35 Nm (26 lb-ft), and its speed range is 10-5,000 rpm. Those are drilling, tapping and light milling figures: enough for bolt circles and small slots, not for heavy face milling. Litz gives the C axis an indexing increment of 0.001 degree and says C-X and C-Z can move together, which covers drum cam and plate cam contours. There is no Y axis in the table, so off-centre features have to be reached with C and X.
The main spindle is an A2-6 nose with a 63 mm (2.5 in) through hole, 30-4,000 rpm and a 7.5 / 11 kW (10.1 / 14.8 hp) motor. X travel is 190 mm (7.5 in) and Z travel 530 mm. A tailstock with an MT5 taper, 435 mm (17.1 in) of travel and a 100 mm (3.9 in) quill stroke supports shaft work across the 645 mm (25.4 in) between centres.
Fitting the live turret costs turning diameter. Swing over the bed is 400 mm (15.7 in) and over the slide 320 mm (12.6 in), yet the maximum turning diameter is 215 mm and the standard turning diameter 186 mm (7.3 in). The standard tooling package includes one axial and one radial drilling and milling head; further driven heads have to be added to the order. The machine weighs 4,300 kg (9,480 lb) and needs 20 kVA.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 12-station live turret in which all 12 stations can carry a driven tool
- C axis with 0.001 degree indexing and simultaneous C-X and C-Z movement
- Milling speed range of 10-5,000 rpm with a 3.7 / 5.5 kW (5.0 / 7.4 hp) motor
- 52 mm (2.0 in) bar capacity through a 63 mm (2.5 in) spindle bore
- Tailstock with MT5 taper and programmable hydraulic quill is standard
Limitations
- No Y axis and no sub-spindle in the table
- Maximum turning diameter is 215 mm (8.5 in), well under the 400 mm (15.7 in) swing over the bed
- Milling torque of 35 Nm (26 lb-ft) restricts driven tools to drilling, tapping and light milling
- Only one axial and one radial driven head are in the standard accessory list

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Yes. The turret has 12 stations and the number of live tools is 12. The milling motor is 3.7 / 5.5 kW (5.0 / 7.4 hp) with 35 Nm (26 lb-ft) and a speed range of 10-5,000 rpm. Litz states a C axis indexing increment of 0.001 degree and a C axis rapid rotation speed of 40 RPM.
02
The specification table lists X travel of 190 mm (7.5 in) and Z travel of 530 mm (20.9 in), and the catalogue describes the C axis. It lists no Y axis and no sub-spindle; the tail end of the machine carries a tailstock with 435 mm (17.1 in) of travel.
03
Maximum turning diameter is 215 mm (8.5 in), standard turning diameter 186 mm (7.3 in) and maximum turning length 530 mm (20.9 in). Bar capacity is 52 mm (2.0 in), the chuck size is 8 in (203 mm) and the distance between centres is 645 mm (25.4 in).
04
The table names Mitsubishi M70-2A / FANUC 0iTC-package A. The spindle motor is 7.5 / 11 kW (10.1 / 14.8 hp), the X and Z servo motors are 1.5 kW and 3.0 kW, and the machine needs a 20 kVA supply.
