How much does the JTEKT FH12500SX-i cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the JTEKT FH12500SX-i that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The JTEKT FH12500SX-i is a large CAT50 horizontal machining center built around a 49.21 x 49.21 in (1,250 x 1,250 mm) pallet that carries 11,000 lb (5,000 kg). Column travel in X is 94.4 in (2,400 mm), the spindle head moves 70.8 in (1,800 mm) in Y, and the table travels 72.8 in (1,850 mm) in Z.
Swing and X travel are matched at 94.5 in (2,400 mm) and 94.4 in (2,400 mm), and Y travel equals the 70.8 in (1,800 mm) maximum workpiece height. In practice that means the spindle can reach the whole face of the largest part the machine accepts, edge to edge and top to bottom, without re-fixturing. Gearbox cases, pump bodies and machine frames are the obvious candidates.
This is the version without a quill. Its sibling, the FH12500 Gear/Quill, adds a 22.00 in (560 mm) W axis and a 1,622 ft-lb (2,200 Nm) spindle but gives up Y travel, 63.00 in (1,600 mm) against 70.8 in (1,800 mm) here, and tops out at 6,000 RPM. The FH12500SX-i is listed at 8,000 and 15,000 RPM with 887 ft-lb (1,202 Nm) of torque. Pick it when the work needs spindle speed and full-height reach more than deep-bore reach.
JTEKT lists cylindrical roller guides, dual ballscrew drive on the Y and Z axes and a Meehanite cast iron base. All three linear axes rapid at 1,654 ipm (42 m/min). Tool storage is 60, 120, 240 or 330. One inconsistency to raise with the maker: the page's description mentions a 6,000 RPM spindle with 8,000 RPM and 15,000 RPM options, while the table for this model shows only the latter two.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 94.4 in (2,400 mm) of X travel against a 94.5 in (2,400 mm) maximum workpiece swing
- 70.8 in (1,800 mm) of Y travel, against 63.00 in (1,600 mm) on the FH12500 Gear/Quill
- 11,000 lb (5,000 kg) on a 49.21 x 49.21 in (1,250 x 1,250 mm) pallet
- Spindle speeds of 8,000 and 15,000 RPM on a CAT50 taper with 887 ft-lb (1,202 Nm) listed
- Cylindrical roller guides with dual ballscrew drive on the Y and Z axes
Limitations
- No W axis or quill; deep bores depend on tool length alone
- 887 ft-lb (1,202 Nm) is the same torque listed for the much smaller FH800SX-i, and well under the 1,622 ft-lb (2,200 Nm) of the FH12500 Gear/Quill
- Rapids are 1,654 ipm (42 m/min), compared with 2,126 ipm (54 m/min) on the FH1000SX
- The description and the table disagree on whether a 6,000 RPM spindle is part of this model

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The spindle and the Y axis. The FH12500SX-i lists 8,000 and 15,000 RPM, 887 ft-lb (1,202 Nm) and 70.8 in (1,800 mm) of Y travel, with no quill. The FH12500 Gear/Quill lists 6,000 RPM with a 4,000 RPM quill, 1,622 ft-lb (2,200 Nm), a 22.00 in (560 mm) W axis and 63.00 in (1,600 mm) of Y. Pallet, X and Z travel, swing, height and load are the same in both tables.
02
Maximum workpiece swing is 94.5 in (2,400 mm), maximum height is 70.8 in (1,800 mm) and the pallet takes 11,000 lb (5,000 kg). The pallet itself is 49.21 x 49.21 in (1,250 x 1,250 mm), so the largest parts overhang it and need a fixture designed for that.
03
The table lists 8,000 and 15,000 RPM on a CAT50 taper. JTEKT describes the 8,000 RPM spindle with a dual cylindrical roller bearing and a 110mm bearing inner diameter, and the 15,000 RPM spindle with four front bearings, variable hydraulic preload and a 120mm bearing inner diameter. A 6,000 RPM spindle is mentioned in the page's description but is not in this model's table.
04
The rapid feedrate is 1,654 ipm (42 m/min) on each of X, Y and Z. With 94.4 in (2,400 mm) of X travel, positioning moves across the full width are long, so cycle-time estimates for multi-face work should count them.
