Overview

The Johnford ST-60CX is a 1,200 mm (47.2 in) lathe with an A2-15 spindle, a 510 mm (20.1 in) chuck and 1,020 mm (40.2 in) of swing over the bed. It is also the base of one of Johnford's turn-mill machines.

In its listed form it is a two-axis turning machine with a 12-position turret. The optional accessory list ends with a B-axis milling/turning spindle for simultaneous 4 or 5 axis machining, and the ST-60CX+B+C+Y is that idea carried through: the same 1,200 mm between centers and 510 mm chuck, with an HSK-A100 spindle and tool magazine in place of the turret. The tables list 13,350 kg (29,370 lb) here and 15,000 kg (33,069 lb) for the ST-60CX+B+C+Y.

Between those two points there are intermediate steps. A 0.001° C axis, a 12-position live tool turret in VDI or BMT and a Y axis of ±75 mm (±3 in) can each be added to the lathe.

As a lathe, it offers 30 / 37 kW (40.2 / 49.6 hp) or 37 / 45 kW (49.6 / 60.3 hp), four automatic speeds to 1,500 rpm, a 152 mm (6 in) bore, 139 mm (5.5 in) of bar capacity, 420 mm (16.5 in) of X travel and 800 mm (31.5 in) of swing over the cross slide.
