Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Johnford DMC-1600H that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Johnford DMC-1600H is a 20,400 kg (45,000 lb) double column machining center with a No.50 spindle, 1,600 mm (63 in) of X travel and 1,300 mm (51.2 in) of Y. It is the machine in Johnford's range where bridge construction, a 50-taper drive and a 6,000 kg (13,200 lb) table first come together.
A typical job is a mold base or die set: a heavy rectangular block, squared on its faces, then pocketed and bored. The 1,700 x 1,100 mm (66.9 x 43.3 in) table and 800 mm (31.5 in) of Z take a block of that kind with room for clamps, and the spindle nose can be brought as close as 150 mm or raised to 950 mm (37.4 in). The standard 15 / 18.5 kW (20.1 / 24.8 hp) drive with Hi Lo Gear does the roughing at up to 6,000 rpm.
Shops that finish molds on the same machine have two paths in Johnford's table. One is the optional 8,000 rpm speed on the geared spindle. The other is a built-in spindle at 10,000 rpm with 26 / 31 kW (34.9 / 41.6 hp) or 31 / 40 kW (41.6 / 53.6 hp), which the accessory list pairs with HSK A100. Linear scales and a thermal compensation system on the spindle are optional and belong on the same quotation for mold work.
Axis speeds are moderate: 15 / 15 / 12 m/min (591 / 591 / 472 ipm) rapid and 1~10,000 mm/min cutting feed. The 24-tool arm type changer is standard, with tools up to 15 kg (33 lb), 400 mm (15.7 in) long and Ø200 mm (Ø7.8 in) across.
