How much does the FANUC Robodrill α-D21MiB5ADV Plus cost?
Estimated price range
Our best estimate for a vertical machining centers (vmc) in this class — not a quote from FANUC. Configuration moves it a long way.
Overview
The FANUC Robodrill α-D21MiB5ADV Plus combines three additions found separately among its siblings: 400 mm (15.7 in) of Z, 21 tools and the 5-axis capable FANUC Series 31i-B5 Plus control. X travel is 500 mm (19.7 in) and Y is 400 mm (15.7 in).
The siblings show each piece on its own. The Robodrill α-D21MiB5 has the same control and tool count with 330 mm (13 in) of Z. The Robodrill α-D14MiB5ADV has the same control and Z with 14 tools. The Robodrill α-D21MiB has the 21 tools with the Series 31i-B Plus control and the shorter Z.
For work on a rotary axis the combination is coherent. The Z stroke leaves height for the rotary unit and fixture, and the tool count covers the longer tool lists that several faces in one clamping produce. The table lists the three linear travels and no rotary axis figures, so what rotary hardware is supplied needs to be settled with FANUC. Spindle speed is 10,000 rpm as standard, and the 12,000 rpm tapping / high-acceleration and 24,000 rpm high-speed spindles are options.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 400 mm (15.7 in) of Z and 21 tools on one machine, where the Robodrill α-D21MiB5 has 330 mm (13 in) and the Robodrill α-D14MiB5ADV has 14 tools
- FANUC Series 31i-B5 Plus control, listed as 5-axis capable
- Y and Z travels of 400 mm (15.7 in) each on 500 mm (19.7 in) of X
- Choice of 12,000 rpm tapping / high-acceleration or 24,000 rpm high-speed spindles over the 10,000 rpm standard
Limitations
- Rotary axis travel and table figures are absent from the table and need to be obtained from FANUC
- X travel is 500 mm (19.7 in), which caps part length whatever the Z height and tool count
- The standard spindle is 10,000 rpm; anything faster is an option

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The Z axis. The Robodrill α-D21MiB5 has 330 mm (13 in) of Z travel, and this model has 400 mm (15.7 in). Both carry 21 tools and the FANUC Series 31i-B5 Plus control, with 500 mm (19.7 in) of X and 400 mm of Y.
02
No. The control, the FANUC Series 31i-B5 Plus, is listed as 5-axis capable, but the travel rows cover X, Y and Z only: 500 mm, 400 mm and 400 mm. Which rotary table is fitted, and its travel and load, has to come from FANUC or from the machine's own documentation.
03
Yes. The Robodrill α-D14MiB5ADV has the same 500 x 400 x 400 mm (19.7 x 15.7 x 15.7 in) travels and the same Series 31i-B5 Plus control with 14 tools, against the 21 carried here.
