How much does the Jainnher L85 CNC Cylindrical Roll Grinder cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Jainnher L85 CNC Cylindrical Roll Grinder that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Jainnher L85 is a CNC cylindrical roll grinding machine for rolls from 20 to 850 mm (0.8 to 33.5 in) in diameter and up to 6,000 kg (13,228 lb). It opens the L class of Jainnher's roll grinder range, above the M60 and below the heavy H types.
Weight and power are what move up. The M60 carries 4,000 kg (8,818 lb) with a 20 HP (14.9 kW) wheel motor. The L85 carries 6,000 kg (13,228 lb) with 30 HP (22.4 kW), on the same Ø910 x Ø304.8 x 75 mm wheel at 300 to 1,200 rpm. More power behind an unchanged wheel means deeper cuts per pass on large roll bodies, which is where grinding time goes.
A heavy roll has to be turned smoothly and positioned without a struggle, and Jainnher gives the headstock three features for it. Drive is by a variable frequency motor, here at 6 to 60 rpm. A spring driven dog takes up shocks so the roll runs evenly. And an air device under the headstock floats it for moving along the bed. The work head motor is printed as 10 HP (7.5HPx6P).
One thing the published table does not settle is length. Its centre-distance row is split across the L85 and L100 columns in a way that cannot be read reliably, so no bed length is quoted here; ask Jainnher which lengths the L85 is built in. Table speed is 25 to 6,000 mm/min, cross feed up to 2,000 mm/min, and the coolant system holds 420 L.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Carries rolls up to 6,000 kg (13,228 lb) and 850 mm (33.5 in) in diameter
- 30 HP (22.4 kW) wheel motor, against 20 HP (14.9 kW) on the M60
- Variable frequency headstock drive at 6 to 60 rpm with a spring driven dog
- Air device under the headstock and tailstock for moving them along the bed
- Table traverse of 25 to 6,000 mm/min
Limitations
- Available centre distances cannot be read reliably from Jainnher's table
- Quill stroke is 80 mm (3.1 in) and the tailstock is moved manually
- Coolant system of 420 L is modest for rolls of this size
- Heavy duty supports and roll caliper are optional accessories

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Maximum swing over the table and maximum ground diameter are 850 mm (33.5 in), with a grinding range of 20 to 850 mm (0.8 to 33.5 in). Maximum workpiece weight is 6,000 kg (13,228 lb). Jainnher's table does not give the centre distances for this type clearly.
02
In diameter only, as far as the table shows. The L100 swings and grinds 1,000 mm (39.4 in); the L85 stops at 850 mm (33.5 in). Workpiece weight, wheel, motors, speeds and coolant capacity are printed as common to both.
03
By a headstock with a variable frequency motor, at 6 to 60 rpm on this type. Jainnher fits a spring driven dog so the workpiece runs smoothly. A universal joint, a carrier and a 4-jaw chuck are listed as optional accessories for other ways of driving the roll.

The page describes a CNC controller with an operation panel, stored cutting programs and a network function for data. The maker's name on the page is misspelt, so it is not repeated here; confirm the control make and model with Jainnher.
