Overview
The Hwacheon MP+3710 is the long-bed version of Hwacheon's MP+ double-column machines, with a 10,000 x 3,100 mm (393.7 x 122.05 in) table rated 40 t (88,184 lb) and 10,650 mm (419.29 in) of X travel. Y travel is 4,500 mm (177.17 in), Z is 1,000 mm (39.37 in) and a W axis adds 1,100 mm (43.31 in) of vertical stroke.
A 10 m table opens two ways of working. One is the single long part: rails, beds, shipbuilding and energy-sector frames that need one setup along their full length. The other is a row of mid-size castings clamped along the table and machined in one run, which cuts the number of times the operator has to stop the machine to reload. Either way the floor plan has to allow for it, because the machine occupies 26,300 x 10,800 mm (1,035.43 x 425.2 in) and weighs 130,000 kg (286,601 lb). Its height is 7,780 mm (306.3 in).
Set against the MP+3706, which has a 6,000 x 3,100 mm (236.22 x 122.05 in) table rated 30 t (66,138 lb) and weighs 100,000 kg (220,462 lb), the MP+3710 adds length and load at the same width. Seventeen 28H7 T-slots at 200 mm pitch run its length, and the columns are 3,700 mm (145.67 in) apart.
Spindle and axes are unchanged across that step. The BT-50 spindle turns to 4,000 rpm at 37 / 30 kW (49.92 / 40.23 hp) on a 400 mm (15.75 in) ram, and the spindle centre ranges -270 to 1,830 mm (-10.63 to 72.05 in) from the table. Rapids are 16 / 16 / 12 / 3 m/min (630 / 630 / 472 / 118 ipm) on X, Y, Z and W, and cutting feed reaches 10 m/min (394 ipm) on X, Y and Z. At 16 m/min a full X traverse takes a noticeable part of a minute, which matters on drilling patterns spread along the whole table.
The magazine starts at 40 tools and can be extended to 60, 90 or 120, for tools up to 400 mm (15.75 in) long and 25 kg (55 lb). The machine needs 130 kVA at 380V, 60Hz, air at 5 to 7 kg/cm² x 690 Nℓ/min, and holds 800 L (211 US gal) of coolant. Control is FANUC 31i-B.
