Overview

The Hedelius FORTE 10-2600 puts an SK50 spindle with 300 Nm and 50 kW on the shortest bed of the FORTE 10 series. It is a 3-axis travelling column machining centre with 2,600 mm (102.4 in) of X, 1,000 mm (39.4 in) of Y and 1,165 mm (45.9 in) of Z, sold by Hedelius under the line "high output in a small space".

Everything that separates this series from the 40-size FORTE machines follows from the spindle interface. Tooling is SK50 or BT50, with HSK A100 as the optional system. Two spindles are listed, both with 300 Nm and 50 kW, one running to 8,000 rpm and one to 12,000 rpm. For either, Hedelius quotes 1,050 cm3/min of milling, a Ø 60 mm drill and an M 30 thread in E335/St60-2. Feed force rises to 34,000 N.

Tools are correspondingly bigger: up to 12 kg, 400 mm long, and 100 mm in diameter with a full magazine or 140 mm with free adjoining places. The magazine holds 40 tools as standard and can be given access to up to 192. A change takes ca. 15 s chip to chip, so this is a machine for long cuts with large cutters, not for parts with many short operations.

The fixed table measures 3,080 x 1,000 mm, has nine 18 mm T-slots and carries 4,500 kg (9,921 lb). A work area partition allows oscillation mode, listed in the data sheet as 965 x 965 mm. Standard equipment includes direct measuring systems, stainless steel slats and smooth-running work area doors. Weight is 21,000 kg (46,296 lb), transport height 3,240 mm.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • SK50 / BT50 spindle with 300 Nm and 50 kW, at 8,000 or 12,000 rpm
  • Rated at 1,050 cm3/min milling and a Ø 60 mm drill in E335/St60-2
  • 1,165 mm of Z travel with a spindle distance of 20 to 1,185 mm
  • Feed force of up to 34,000 N on a fixed table for 4,500 kg (9,921 lb)
  • Tools up to 12 kg and 400 mm long, with magazine access to up to 192 tools

Limitations

  • 40 tools as standard, fewer than the 40-size FORTE series carry
  • Chip-to-chip time of ca. 15 s
  • Top speed is 12,000 rpm, which limits small-diameter tools
  • 21,000 kg (46,296 lb) for a machine with 2,600 mm of X; HSK A100 is an option, not standard
06

Best For

Heavy roughing in steel and cast iron with large SK50 cutters Tall workpieces and fixtures that need 1,165 mm of Z Mould bases and machine components up to 4,500 kg Shops that need SK50 power but have room for only a short machine

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What spindle does the FORTE 10-2600 have?

An SK50 / BT50 spindle with 300 Nm and 50 kW, available with a top speed of 8,000 rpm or 12,000 rpm; HSK A100 is the optional tool system. Hedelius rates both versions at 1,050 cm3/min milling, a Ø 60 mm drill and an M 30 thread in E335/St60-2.

02 What are the travels and table of the FORTE 10-2600?

X 2,600 mm, Y 1,000 mm and Z 1,165 mm. The fixed table has a clamping area of 3,080 x 1,000 mm with nine 18 mm T-slots at 100 mm spacing, and a table load of 4,500 kg (9,921 lb). The spindle distance is 20 to 1,185 mm.

03 How big can tools be on the FORTE 10-2600?

Up to 400 mm long and 12 kg, with other weights on request. Diameter is 100 mm with every place occupied, or 140 mm with free adjoining places, which is an option. The magazine holds 40 tools as standard, with access to up to 192.

04 Does the FORTE 10-2600 support oscillation mode?

Yes, with a work area partition. The data sheet lists pendulum operation as 965 x 965 mm, two work areas of 965 mm each. That is short, so it suits compact series parts; longer parts use the full 2,600 mm of X without the partition.
