How much does the Hwacheon SIMPLEX-2 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Hwacheon SIMPLEX-2 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Hwacheon SIMPLEX-2 is a compact vertical mill with a 1,100 x 280 mm (43.3 x 11.0 in) table, 700 mm (27.6 in) of X, 320 mm (12.6 in) of Y and 390 mm (15.4 in) of Z travel, an N.T. 40 spindle and a CS CAM 800S control. Its spec table reads differently from Hwacheon's machining centers: it lists a manual quill with 140 mm (5.5 in) of travel, a head that swivels ±45° to the left and right, and 450 mm (17.7 in) of overarm travel.
Those three items describe a flexible toolroom machine. The swivelling head puts angled holes and chamfers within reach without a tilting fixture, the overarm moves the spindle forward or back over the table, and the manual quill lets an operator drill or bore by hand on one-off work.
The spindle runs in 16 steps from 75 to 3,600 rpm on a 60 Hz supply, or 60 to 3,000 rpm on 50 Hz, driven by a motor listed at 2 / 1 kW (2.7 / 1.3 hp) for its 2p / 4p windings. That is enough for drilling, slotting and light face milling with small cutters; it will not carry heavy roughing passes. Axis drives are 1.8 / 1.8 / 2.9 kW (2.4 / 2.4 / 3.9 hp) on X, Y and Z, with rapids of 5,000 / 5,000 / 2,000 mm/min (197 / 197 / 79 ipm) and cutting feed up to 2,000 mm/min (79 ipm) on each axis.
The table takes 300 kg (661 lb) and has three 16 mm T-slots at 60 mm pitch, so long narrow work and vise jobs suit it better than broad plates. The table lists no tool magazine or tool change time. The machine weighs 2,500 kg (5,512 lb), needs 2,500 x 2,200 mm (98.4 x 86.6 in) of floor and 2,265 mm (89.2 in) of height, and runs on 13 kVA at 220V, 60Hz.
For production work with automatic tool changes, the VESTA-850B offers a 1,050 x 600 mm (41.3 x 23.6 in) table, an 8,000 rpm BT-40 spindle rated 18.5 / 11 kW (24.8 / 14.8 hp) and 24 tools.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Head swivels ±45° left and right for angled holes and chamfers
- Manual quill with 140 mm (5.5 in) of travel and 450 mm (17.7 in) of overarm travel
- Long 1,100 x 280 mm (43.3 x 11.0 in) table with 700 mm (27.6 in) of X travel
- Modest installation needs: 13 kVA at 220V, 60Hz and a 2,500 x 2,200 mm (98.4 x 86.6 in) footprint
Limitations
- Spindle motor is 2 / 1 kW (2.7 / 1.3 hp) and speed tops out at 3,600 rpm
- Speeds come in 16 fixed steps rather than as a continuous range
- The table lists no tool magazine, so multi-tool jobs need checking before purchase
- Table width of 280 mm (11.0 in) with three T-slots limits wide parts and fixtures

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Sixteen steps from 75 to 3,600 rpm on a 60 Hz supply, and sixteen steps from 60 to 3,000 rpm on 50 Hz. The motor is listed at 2 / 1 kW (2.7 / 1.3 hp) for its 2p / 4p windings and the spindle takes N.T. 40 tooling.
02
Its spec table lists no tool magazine, tool capacity or tool change time, and it does list a manual quill with 140 mm (5.5 in) of travel. Confirm with Hwacheon how tools are changed before planning jobs that need many tools in one cycle.
03
The head swivels ±45° to the left or right, so holes and faces at an angle can be machined without tilting the part. The overarm travels 450 mm (17.7 in), moving the spindle over the table, and the quill gives 140 mm (5.5 in) of manual feed.
04
The VESTA-850B is a machining center with a 1,050 x 600 mm (41.3 x 23.6 in) table rated 800 kg (1,764 lb), an 8,000 rpm BT-40 spindle at 18.5 / 11 kW (24.8 / 14.8 hp) and 24 tools. The SIMPLEX-2 is a far smaller machine: 300 kg (661 lb) on a 1,100 x 280 mm (43.3 x 11.0 in) table and a 2 / 1 kW (2.7 / 1.3 hp) spindle.
05
Floor space of 2,500 x 2,200 mm (98.4 x 86.6 in), 2,265 mm (89.2 in) of height and a floor for 2,500 kg (5,512 lb). It takes 13 kVA at 220V, 60Hz. The table lists no compressed-air requirement.
