Overview

The Hwacheon SIRIUS-UM+ is a high-speed vertical machining center with 750 x 500 x 450 mm (29.5 x 19.7 x 17.7 in) of travel, an 850 x 500 mm (33.5 x 19.7 in) table rated 800 kg (1,764 lb) and a choice between a 20,000 rpm BBT-40 spindle and a 32,000 rpm HSK-E40 spindle. The 32K spindle is a different tool. It runs to 32,000 rpm at 18.5 / 13 kW (24.8 / 17.4 hp) on a Ø45 mm (Ø1.8 in) bearing with oil-jet lubrication, and its HSK-E40 interface limits tools to Ø50 mm (Ø2.0 in), 200 mm (7.9 in) and 1.5 kg (3 lb). Those limits suit small ball and end mills on copper and graphite electrodes and fine mould detail, not heavy stock removal.

Both versions share a built-in motor with an oil-cooled jacket, 24 m/min (945 ipm) rapids, a 30-tool magazine with 40 or 60 as options and memory-random tool selection. The spindle nose reaches 150 to 600 mm (5.9 to 23.6 in) above the table, and five 18 mm T-slots at 100 mm pitch cross it.
