How much does the Hwacheon Hi-TECH 700 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Hwacheon Hi-TECH 700 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Hwacheon Hi-TECH 700 is a single-bed shaft lathe that turns up to Ø680 mm (Ø26.8 in) over a length of 1,986 mm (78.2 in). Unlike the Hi-TECH 650 and 750, it is listed in one bed length and one headstock: a 15 in chuck on an A2-11 nose, a Ø132 mm (Ø5.2 in) bore taking Ø116 mm (Ø4.6 in) bar, and a 37 / 30 kW (49.6 / 40.2 hp) motor running to 1,800 rpm.
The bed is about two metres between chuck and tailstock. Z travel is 2,050 mm (80.7 in) and the tailstock body moves 1,878 mm (73.9 in) on a Ø150 mm (Ø5.9 in) cylinder, with a 150 mm (5.9 in) MT #5 quill. Choosing the MC version shortens the usable turning length to 1,866 mm (73.5 in), so check the longest part against that figure rather than the plain-turning one.
Both axes rapid at 18 m/min (709 ipm), and X has 360 mm (14.2 in) of travel. The 12-station turret indexes in 0.4 sec/step and takes □32 mm shanks with Ø60 mm boring bars. On the MC version, driven tools run to 2,000 rpm from a 7.5 / 5.5 kW (10.1 / 7.4 hp) motor and take end mills to Ø32 mm in ER 50 collets, with a C axis indexing in 0.0001° steps. That speed suits tapping and cross drilling in large parts more than fine milling.
The machine weighs 17,350 kg (38,250 lb) and occupies 5,065 x 2,282 x 2,535 mm (199.4 x 89.8 x 99.8 in), so the floor and the rigging plan need checking before delivery. It needs a 75 kVA supply, the coolant tank holds 300 L (79 US gal) and the control is a FANUC 0i-TF Plus.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Ø680 mm (Ø26.8 in) turning diameter over 1,986 mm (78.2 in) of turning length on a single bed
- Tailstock on a Ø150 mm (Ø5.9 in) cylinder with 1,878 mm (73.9 in) of travel for supporting long work
- 12-station turret indexing at 0.4 sec/step, taking □32 mm shanks and Ø60 mm boring bars
- ER 50 driven tools on the MC version take end mills up to Ø32 mm
- Same Ø680 mm (Ø26.8 in) envelope as the Hi-TECH 700BB/BB+ with a 1,800 rpm spindle against 1,300 rpm on the BB
Limitations
- Only one headstock: Ø116 mm (Ø4.6 in) bar capacity through a Ø132 mm (Ø5.2 in) bore
- Turning length drops to 1,866 mm (73.5 in) on the MC version
- Driven tools are limited to 2,000 rpm on a 7.5 / 5.5 kW (10.1 / 7.4 hp) motor
- 18 m/min (709 ipm) rapids on both axes, slower than the 20 / 24 m/min (787 / 945 ipm) of the Hi-TECH 650
- No Y-axis version is listed
