Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Hwacheon MEGAII-140 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Hwacheon MEGAII-140 is the largest MEGAII lathe, with a Ø1,400 mm (Ø55.11 in) swing over the bed, 600 mm (23.62 in) of X travel and the series' 8 t (17,637 lb) workpiece rating. It is built for long, heavy work: seven centre distances run from 3,000 mm (118.11 in) up to 10,000 mm (393.7 in), and Z travel equals the centre distance.
On the longest beds the details matter. The 10000 bed gets a Ø250 mm (Ø9.84 in) tailstock quill in place of the Ø200 mm (Ø7.87 in) quill of the shorter beds, both with an MT No.6 centre and 260 mm (10.24 in) of quill travel, on a built-in tailstock. Z rapid is 6 m/min (236.22 ipm) up to the 5000 bed and 5 m/min (196.85 ipm) from the 6000 upward; X stays at 6 m/min (236.22 ipm). The bed itself is 1,000 mm (39.37 in) wide with three ways and ranges from 5,492 to 12,492 mm (216.22 to 491.81 in) long.
Site planning scales with the bed too. The supply is 76 kVA for the 3000 to 5000 beds, 84 kVA for the 6000 and 90 kVA for the 7000 to 10000, all at 220 V, 60 Hz for the FANUC 0i-TF Plus. The machine is 3,400 mm (133.86 in) wide, 2,510 mm (98.82 in) high, the tallest of the three MEGAII sizes, and 7,992 to 14,992 mm (314.65 to 590.24 in) long. Coolant capacity rises from 220 to 570 L (58 to 151 gal). The table gives no machine weight.
The headstock is the common MEGAII unit: a 24 in chuck, 45 / 37 kW (60.3 / 49.6 hp), and Ø155, Ø255 or Ø320 mm bores reaching 750, 650 or 400 rpm with up to 1,756 kgf·m (17,220 Nm). Tools sit in a hydraulic □200 mm 4-way square tool post with □40 mm shanks. The cross-slide swing is listed as Ø200 ~ Ø1,100 mm (Ø7.87 ~ Ø43.31 in).

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The tailstock quill grows from Ø200 mm (Ø7.87 in) to Ø250 mm (Ø9.84 in). Z rapid is 5 m/min (196.85 ipm), as on all beds from the 6000 upward, and the supply is 90 kVA. The machine is 14,992 mm (590.24 in) long on the longest bed.
02
The MEGA+140 swings Ø1,400 mm (Ø55.12 in) too, with more X travel at 730 mm (28.74 in), a 32 in chuck, a SIEMENS 828D option and a manual tool post. The MEGAII-140 has a 24 in chuck, a hydraulic tool post for □40 mm shanks, 1,000 mm (39.37 in) of bed width and an 8 t (17,637 lb) workpiece rating.
03
The MEGA-R100 is a heavier class: Ø1,600 mm (Ø63.0 in) swing, 15,000 kg (33,069 lb) workpieces and 114 / 71 kW (152.9 / 95.2 hp), with a top speed of 500 rpm. The MEGAII-140 is rated for 8 t (17,637 lb) with 45 / 37 kW (60.3 / 49.6 hp) and up to 750 rpm.
04
A 220 V, 60 Hz supply of 76 to 90 kVA depending on bed length, a footprint of 7,992 to 14,992 x 3,400 mm (314.65 to 590.24 x 133.86 in) and 2,510 mm (98.82 in) of height. Ask for the machine weight, which the table does not give, before designing the foundation.
