How much does the Hwacheon Hi-TECH 350 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Hwacheon Hi-TECH 350 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Hwacheon Hi-TECH 350 is a Y-axis turning center: Hwacheon's table for it lists only YMC and YSMC versions, each with 120 mm (4.7 in) of Y travel and live tools. It turns up to Ø420 mm (Ø16.5 in) over a Ø700 mm (Ø27.6 in) swing, with 661 to 673 mm (26.0 to 26.5 in) of turning length on the standard bed and 1,261 to 1,273 mm (49.6 to 50.1 in) on the L.
Two main spindles are offered. The 350A has an 8 in chuck on an A2-6 nose, 5,000 rpm, a Ø75 mm (Ø3.0 in) bore and Ø65 mm (Ø2.6 in) bar capacity, with an 18.5 / 15 kW (24.8 / 20.1 hp) motor or 22 / 18.5 kW (29.5 / 24.8 hp) as an option. The 350B has a 10 in chuck on A2-8, 4,000 rpm, a Ø90 mm (Ø3.5 in) bore, Ø76 mm (Ø3.0 in) bar and the 22 / 18.5 kW motor as standard. The B's 4,000 rpm is notably higher than the 3,500 rpm of the 10 in Hi-TECH 230B, which helps when turning smaller diameters in the larger chuck.
The YSMC is the complete-machining version. Its sub-spindle carries an 8 in chuck on an A2-6 nose, runs to 4,000 rpm with a Ø62 mm (Ø2.4 in) bore and Ø51 mm (Ø2.0 in) bar capacity, and is rated 7.5 / 5.5 kW (10.1 / 7.4 hp). It travels 726 mm (28.6 in) on the 350A YSMC or 714 mm (28.1 in) on the 350B YSMC, at 16 m/min (630 ipm). An 8 in sub-spindle chuck means the second operation can grip a fairly large part, not just a small bar end. The YMC instead keeps a tailstock with a Ø100 mm (Ø3.9 in) cylinder, 120 mm (4.7 in) of quill travel and an MT #5 taper.
Live tools run at 3.7 / 2.2 kW (5.0 / 3.0 hp) and 5,000 rpm with Ø20 mm end mills in ER 32 collets, from a 12-station turret that indexes at 0.25 sec/step and takes □25 mm shanks and Ø50 mm boring bars. Rapids are 20 m/min (787 ipm) on X, 24 m/min (945 ipm) on Z and 10 m/min (394 ipm) on Y. The YMC weighs 7,300 to 7,450 kg (16,094 to 16,424 lb) and the YSMC 7,700 to 7,800 kg (16,975 to 17,196 lb) on the standard bed. Power is 50 kVA for the YMC and 55 kVA for the YSMC, and the control is a FANUC 0i-TF Plus.

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The 350A has an 8 in chuck on A2-6, 5,000 rpm, a Ø75 mm (Ø3.0 in) bore and Ø65 mm (Ø2.6 in) bar, with 18.5 / 15 kW (24.8 / 20.1 hp) standard and 22 / 18.5 kW (29.5 / 24.8 hp) optional. The 350B has a 10 in chuck on A2-8, 4,000 rpm, a Ø90 mm (Ø3.5 in) bore, Ø76 mm (Ø3.0 in) bar and the 22 / 18.5 kW motor.
02
The YMC has a tailstock with a Ø100 mm (Ø3.9 in) cylinder and MT #5 taper, which suits shafts. The YSMC replaces it with a sub-spindle (8 in chuck, 4,000 rpm, 7.5 / 5.5 kW) for finishing both ends of a part in one cycle. The YSMC weighs 7,700 to 7,800 kg (16,975 to 17,196 lb) and needs 55 kVA against 50 kVA for the YMC.
03
The Hi-TECH 450B has a 12 in chuck, 2,500 rpm, a Ø105 mm (Ø4.1 in) bore and Ø89 mm (Ø3.5 in) bar, with a 22 / 18.5 kW (29.5 / 24.8 hp) spindle and a 26 / 22 kW option, and turns up to 737 mm (29.0 in) long. Both turn up to Ø420 mm (Ø16.5 in). The Hi-TECH 350 is the faster of the two at 4,000 to 5,000 rpm, with smaller bar capacity.
04
X travel is 280 mm (11.0 in), or 260 mm (10.2 in) on the YSMC. Y travel is 120 mm (4.7 in). Z travel is 790 mm (31.1 in), or 1,390 mm (54.7 in) on the L bed. Rapids are 20 m/min (787 ipm) on X, 24 m/min (945 ipm) on Z and 10 m/min (394 ipm) on Y.
