Overview
The Huron K3X 8 Five is a five-axis portal machining centre with a two-axis table mounted on a 55° plane. Linear travels are 780 x 700 x 500 mm (30.7 x 27.6 x 19.7 in), the table is 500 mm in diameter and the spindle is an 18,000 rpm HSK 63-A unit with 30 kW.
The inclined table is the defining feature. Its A axis tilts from +30° to -180° and C rotates 360°, both at 50 rpm and both continuously controlled. Because the table swings on an angled plane instead of a horizontal trunnion, it stays compact under the portal, and Huron notes permanent visibility over the workpiece.
Accuracy figures are tight. Huron states 0.004 mm positioning and 0.002 mm repeatability on X, Y and Z, and 7.2 sec and 3.6 sec on A and C. Rapids are 50 m/min. The structure is a large monoblock bed with a reinforced portal in cast iron, and floor anchor points are provided to support the speeds and accelerations.
