Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Huron GU6 Five that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Step up to a 650 mm table and 600 kg (1,323 lb) of load, and the GU range gives you the Huron GU6 Five. Its travels are 800 x 900 x 650 mm (31.5 x 35.4 x 25.6 in), and the spindle nose can be as much as 800 mm above the table plane.
That last figure is useful. With 150 to 800 mm between nose and table, and tools up to 400 mm long, the GU6 Five handles tall parts and deep cavities that the smaller GU machines cannot clear. The T-slots also grow, to 18 mm.
The swivel axis slows as the table gets heavier. A moves at 25 rpm, half the rate of the GU5 Five, while the directly driven C axis keeps 75 rpm. Swivel range is ±120°. An optional turning table runs at 700 rpm.
The electrospindle is rated 30 kW at up to 18,000 rpm on the Siemens motor figure. Huron's table for this model does not print the torque cleanly, so take the torque from a quotation and not from the web page. Linear rapids are 50 m/min, with positioning of 0.006 mm and repeatability of 0.003 mm.
The machine weighs 13,000 kg (28,660 lb) and measures 4,500 x 2,600 mm, 3,300 mm high. As across the series, the gantry moves and Huron cools the ballscrew nuts and guides.

Frequently Asked Questions
01
800 mm in X, 900 mm in Y and 650 mm in Z, at a rapid traverse of 50 m/min. The rotary table is 650 mm in diameter and carries 600 kg (1,323 lb).
02
Swivelling and rotary speeds are 25 and 75 rpm for A and C. The A axis swivels ±120° and the C axis rotates 360°. An optional turning table speed of 700 rpm is listed.
03
Huron's table for this model shows a torque entry that is not printed cleanly, so no torque is quoted here. The table does give 30 kW of motor power and an 18,000 rpm speed. Ask Huron for the torque curve.
04
Approximately 4,500 mm long, 2,600 mm wide and 3,300 mm high, with a machine weight of about 13,000 kg (28,660 lb).
05
The changer holds 40 tools. Maximum diameter is 100 mm with all pockets used and 110 mm with adjacent pockets empty. Maximum tool length is 400 mm and maximum weight 10 kg (22 lb).
