How much does the Huron DX 200-4 A cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Huron DX 200-4 A that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Huron DX 200-4 A is a 400 mm (15.7 in) turning-length lathe with the small spindle of the DX 200 series: A2-5 nose, 55 mm bore, 44 mm bar capacity. Maximum turning diameter is 320 mm over a 500 mm swing.
Think of it as the general-purpose chucker of the family. Four hundred millimetres of Z travel handles short shafts and flanged parts that overhang the chuck, and the tailstock, with its 85 mm hydraulic quill and 120 mm stroke, supports them. The spindle runs from 50 to 4,000 rpm. Huron lists 9.8/7.5 kW for a Siemens motor and 11/7.5 kW for a Fanuc motor.
With the Siemens package the A version has noticeably less power than the DX 200-4 B at 13.5/9 kW. With Fanuc the two are listed identically, so on a Fanuc machine the choice between A and B comes down to bore size alone.
Construction is the DX 200 standard. Huron describes a rigid bed with a single-piece 30° slant saddle, a step-up structure, high-precision linear guideways and three-point levelling. The 8-station bi-directional servo turret holds 25 x 25 mm tools. Both axes rapid at 24 m/min. The machine weighs 3,000 kg (6,614 lb), and positioning is stated as 0.007 mm with 0.005 mm repeatability.

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Swing over bed is 500 mm, standard turning diameter 250 mm, maximum turning diameter 320 mm and maximum turning length 400 mm. Cross travel is 175 mm.
02
The DX 200-4 B has an A2-6 nose, a 70 mm bore and 52 mm of bar capacity, and 13.5/9 kW on the Siemens motor. The DX 200-4 A has A2-5, 55 mm and 44 mm, with 9.8/7.5 kW on Siemens. Fanuc power is 11/7.5 kW on both.
03
A tailstock with a hydraulic quill of 85 mm diameter and 120 mm stroke. Thrust is adjustable up to 300 kgf. Huron lists hydraulic chucking as well.
04
Positioning uncertainty of 0.007 mm and repeatability of 0.005 mm. The longer DX 200-7 A is listed at 0.01 mm positioning, so the short beds carry the tighter figure.
