Honor Seiki VL-100M

The Honor Seiki VL-100M is the second of two columns on the maker's VL-100 page, and in the published table it is almost a copy of the first. Swing is 1,320 mm (52 in), turning diameter 1,100 mm (43.3 in), chuck 1,000 mm (40 in), spindle range 5-850 rpm, tool positions 12 and maximum workpiece weight 1,000 kg (2,205 lb). Each of those matches the VL-100A/AR.

Turning height is the open question. Honor Seiki's table prints a millimetre value and an inch value for this model that do not agree with each other, so no height is quoted on this page. The VL-100A/AR is listed at 920 mm (36.2 in), and the twin-spindle VL-100MT at 900 mm (35.4 in). Ask the maker which applies before sizing a tall part for the VL-100M.

As with the smaller M models, the page does not say what the suffix adds. There is no live spindle row and no driven-tool entry in the accessory list. On the lower frames the M columns have less turning diameter or height than the A/AR columns; here the diameter is unchanged.

Workholding follows the VL-100 pattern: a manual 4-jaw chuck is standard, and a hydraulic chuck with rotary cylinder is optional. Coolant through the turret, a coolant tank with bed wash down, a hinge type chip conveyor and spindle orientation are also standard. The 1,000 kg limit is low for a chuck of this diameter, which points the machine at rings, covers and other large but light parts. Options include a spindle motor upgrade, a dual speed gearbox, a servo turret and a Siemens controller.
