Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Huron DX 200-3 B that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Huron DX 200-3 B is the big-bore version of the shortest DX 200 lathe. It keeps a 300 mm (11.8 in) turning length and a 320 mm turning diameter, but its A2-6 spindle has a 70 mm bore and takes 52 mm bar.
The suffix B in the DX 200 series marks the larger spindle of each length. Here that means 13.5/9 kW on the Siemens motor, the highest figure among the short-bed models, or 11/7.5 kW on the Fanuc one. Speed range is 50-4,000 rpm. A bigger headstock adds mass: this machine weighs 3,100 kg (6,834 lb), against 2,500 kg for the plain DX 200-3.
Bar-fed production is the obvious use. A 52 mm bar covers a large share of fittings, pins and small shafts, and a Z travel of 300 mm is enough for parts cut off at the spindle. Rapids are 24 m/min on X and Z, and the 8-station servo turret is bi-directional with a quoted change time of 0.5 sec.
The rest follows the family pattern: 30° slant saddle, linear guideways, hydraulic chucking, and a tailstock with an 85 mm hydraulic quill and 300 kgf of thrust. Stated positioning is 0.007 mm. The machine measures 2,150 mm long, 1,440 mm wide and 1,770 mm high.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 52 mm bar capacity through a 70 mm bore on a short-bed lathe
- 13.5/9 kW with the Siemens spindle motor
- A2-6 spindle nose for larger chucks
- Compact at 2,150 x 1,440 mm
- 0.5 sec turret change time quoted by Huron
Limitations
- Turning length is 300 mm, the shortest of the B models
- Fanuc motor power stays at 11/7.5 kW, no higher than on the A2-5 models
- Cross travel is 175 mm, against 200 mm on the DX 200-5 A
- Tailstock thrust is 300 kgf, below the 500 kgf of the DX 200-5 A

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Huron does not define it, but in the DX 200 table the B columns carry the larger spindle for each bed length. On this model that is an A2-6 nose, a 70 mm bore and 52 mm of bar capacity.
02
X-axis cross travel is 175 mm and Z-axis longitudinal travel is 300 mm. Rapid feed is 24 m/min on both axes. Maximum turning diameter is 320 mm and maximum turning length 300 mm.
03
Approximately 3,100 kg (6,834 lb). Approximate dimensions are 2,150 mm in length, 1,440 mm in width and 1,770 mm in height.
04
The DX 200-4 B, which has the same A2-6 spindle, 70 mm bore and 52 mm bar capacity, with 400 mm of turning length and Z travel. Its weight and overall dimensions are the same as those of the DX 200-3 B.
