Huron DX 200-3 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Huron DX 200-3 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Huron or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Huron DX 200-3 is a compact two-axis CNC turning centre for short chucking parts. It turns up to 320 mm (12.6 in) in diameter and 320 mm in length, weighs 2,500 kg (5,512 lb) and fits in a space of 2,163 x 1,465 mm.

It is the smallest machine in the DX 200 family and the only one Huron gives a page of its own. The spindle has an A2-5 nose and a 55 mm bore that passes 44 mm bar. Speed range is 50-4,000 rpm. Motor power depends on the control package: 9.8/7.5 kW with Siemens and 11/7.5 kW with Fanuc.

The bed carries a single-piece saddle slanted at 30° and linear-motion guideways. An 8-station bi-directional servo turret indexes in 0.5 sec according to Huron's feature list, and takes 25 x 25 mm shank tools and boring bars up to 40 mm. Both axes rapid at 24 m/min. Cross travel is 175 mm.

A tailstock with a hydraulic quill is part of the specification, with an 85 mm quill, 120 mm of stroke and an adjustable thrust of 300 kgf. For a lathe this short that is a useful extra for the occasional slender part. Positioning is given as 0.007 mm and repeatability as 0.005 mm. Three-point levelling simplifies installation.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Small footprint of 2,163 x 1,465 mm and a weight of 2,500 kg (5,512 lb)
  • Turret indexing in 0.5 sec, per Huron's feature list
  • Tailstock with hydraulic quill on a 320 mm lathe
  • Spindle power published for both Siemens and Fanuc packages
  • Positioning of 0.007 mm and repeatability of 0.005 mm

Limitations

  • Bar capacity is 44 mm through a 55 mm bore
  • Turning length is limited to 320 mm
  • No live tooling, Y axis or sub-spindle in the table
  • 8 turret stations limit the tool set for complex parts
06

Best For

Short chucking parts such as bushes, rings and flanges Bar work up to 44 mm through the 55 mm bore Second-operation turning in a cell with limited space High-volume simple parts where a 0.5 sec index shortens the cycle

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What can the Huron DX 200-3 turn?

Maximum turning diameter is 320 mm, standard turning diameter 250 mm and maximum turning length 320 mm, with a 500 mm swing over the bed. Huron notes that the maximum figures depend on the clamping arrangement, tooling and job.

02 What is the spindle power of the DX 200-3?

Huron lists 9.8/7.5 kW for the Siemens spindle motor and 11/7.5 kW for the Fanuc one. The speed range is 50-4,000 rpm on an A2-5 nose. The table does not label the two power figures with duty cycles.

03 How is the DX 200-3 different from the DX 200-3 B?

The DX 200-3 B has a larger spindle: A2-6 nose, 70 mm bore and 52 mm bar capacity, with 13.5/9 kW on the Siemens package. The DX 200-3 B weighs 3,100 kg. The DX 200-3 has an A2-5 nose, 55 mm bore and 44 mm bar capacity, and weighs 2,500 kg.

04 What turret does the DX 200-3 have?

A bi-directional servo turret with 8 stations. It takes tools with a 25 x 25 mm cross-section and boring bars up to 40 mm in diameter. Huron quotes a tool changing time of 0.5 sec.
