Overview
The Huron DX 750-3000 B is the largest turning centre Huron lists. It combines 3,000 mm (118.1 in) of turning length, a 920 mm turning diameter and the A2-15 spindle with its 180 mm bore, in a machine of 24,000 kg (52,910 lb).
Work of this size is specialised. Think of long forged shafts for ships and generators, large rolls, heavy tubulars and gun-barrel class hollow forgings, parts that occupy a machine for hours. The Siemens motor provides 45/30 kW and the Fanuc motor 37/30 kW, with a 50-1,200 rpm range.
The turret carries 12 tools of 32 x 32 mm section and boring bars up to 60 mm. A tailstock with a 170 mm quill and 200 mm of stroke applies up to 1,500 kgf. Z travel is 3,100 mm and X travel 480 mm. Rapid feed is given as 24/20 m/min.
Huron's stated accuracy is 0.01/0.02 mm for positioning and 0.005/0.008 mm for repeatability, X and Z.
