Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Huron AX M 200 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Huron AX M 200 is a CNC turning centre with a 12-station live-tool turret and a tailstock. It turns up to 330 mm (13.0 in) in diameter and 625 mm in length, takes 52 mm bar through an A2-6 spindle nose, and runs the spindle to 4,500 rpm.
The M in the name marks the driven-tool turret. Stations accept BMT 45 holders and the live tools also reach 4,500 rpm, so cross holes, flats and keyways can be milled and drilled on the lathe. There is no Y axis on this version. Milled features therefore lie on the spindle centreline or are generated with C-axis interpolation.
Huron's table gives the main spindle 9.2 kW and 175 Nm. That is a modest power rating beside the 36 kW of the AX M 300, and it defines the smaller machine as one for bar work and light chucking jobs in free-cutting materials. Rapids are 24 m/min in X and 35 m/min in Z.
Shaft work is supported by an MT 3 tailstock with an 85 mm quill, 630 mm of quill travel and 500 daN of thrust. Positioning is stated as 0.005 mm and repeatability as 0.003 mm on X and Z. Huron describes a monoblock construction with hydraulic chucking, and the machine measures 4,280 x 2,436 mm with doors open and conveyor.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 12-station live-tool turret with BMT 45 holders at up to 4,500 rpm
- 52 mm bar capacity through a 65 mm spindle bore
- Tailstock with 630 mm of quill travel for shaft work
- Positioning of 0.005 mm and repeatability of 0.003 mm on X and Z
- Z rapid of 35 m/min, with 24 m/min on X
Limitations
- Main spindle power is 9.2 kW
- No Y axis: off-centre milling needs the AX MY 200
- No secondary spindle, so back-end work needs a second operation
- X travel is 200 mm, against 250 mm on the AX M 300

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Swing over bed is 550 mm, maximum turning diameter 330 mm and maximum turning length 625 mm. X travel is 200 mm and Z travel 625 mm. Bar capacity is 52 mm.
02
Yes. The turret has 12 stations of the live-tool type with BMT 45 tool holders, and the maximum tool speed is 4,500 rpm. The M version has no Y axis; Huron offers that on the AX MY 200.
03
Spindle speed is 4,500 rpm, power 9.2 kW and torque 175 Nm. The spindle nose is A2-6 and the bore 65 mm. The larger AX M 300 is listed at 36 kW and 385 Nm.
04
An MT 3 tailstock with a quill diameter of 85 mm, a quill travel of 630 mm and a thrust of 500 daN. It supports shafts across the 625 mm turning length.
