How much does the Huron DX 500-1000 C cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Huron DX 500-1000 C that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
A 180 mm spindle bore defines the Huron DX 500-1000 C. On an A2-15 nose, with 37/30 kW from the Fanuc motor or 45/30 kW from the Siemens motor, it is the big-bore, high-power version of the 1,000 mm DX Large lathe.
Bores of this size exist for pipe, casing and hollow shafts. A tube can extend back through the headstock while its end is threaded, faced or profiled, which is everyday work in oil and gas supply. Note one figure, though. Huron's table gives the maximum bar capacity as 90 mm for the C, the same as for the B, although the bore is 180 mm. Ask what chuck and draw-tube arrangement that figure assumes.
The speed range is 50-1,200 rpm. That is the slowest of the three versions and reflects the size of the spindle bearings. Turning capacity is unchanged: 700 mm (27.6 in) in diameter, 1,000 mm in length, 800 mm of swing and 360 mm of X travel.
Weight is listed at 9,500 kg (20,944 lb), no different from the lighter-spindled versions. The turret has 8 stations for 32 x 32 mm tools, the tailstock gives up to 1,000 kgf, and stated positioning is 0.01 mm. Huron's series features include hydraulic chucking and a single-piece slant saddle.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 180 mm spindle bore on an A2-15 nose
- 37/30 kW (Fanuc) or 45/30 kW (Siemens), the highest power on this bed
- 700 mm turning diameter with 360 mm of X travel
- Same footprint as the smaller-spindle versions
- Tailstock thrust up to 1,000 kgf
Limitations
- Maximum bar capacity is listed as 90 mm despite the 180 mm bore
- Spindle speed is limited to 1,200 rpm
- 8 turret stations; the DX 750-1250 B has 12
- Boring bars limited to 50 mm in diameter

Frequently Asked Questions
01
180 mm, on an A2-15 spindle nose. The maximum bar capacity row gives 90 mm, so the usable through-capacity depends on the chucking arrangement and should be confirmed with Huron.
02
37/30 kW with the Fanuc motor and 45/30 kW with the Siemens motor, over a 50-1,200 rpm range. The spindle nose is A2-15 and the bore 180 mm.
03
The DX 500-1000 B has an A2-11 nose, a 110 mm bore, 26/22 kW on Fanuc and a 50-1,500 rpm range. The DX 500-1000 C has A2-15, 180 mm, 37/30 kW on Fanuc and 50-1,200 rpm. Capacity, turret, tailstock and weight are the same.
04
Maximum turning diameter is 700 mm, standard turning diameter 550 mm and maximum turning length 1,000 mm, over an 800 mm swing. X travel is 360 mm and Z travel 1,000 mm.
