Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Huron AX M 300 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Power is what separates the Huron AX M 300 from the smaller AX machines. Its main spindle is rated 36 kW and 385 Nm at up to 4,000 rpm, on an A2-8 nose with a 75 mm bore and 65 mm of bar capacity. Maximum turning diameter is 420 mm (16.5 in) and turning length 600 mm.
Those figures describe a chucking lathe for steel. A 385 Nm spindle takes full-depth roughing cuts on forgings and thick-walled tube, and Huron speaks of a high-speed electrospindle in a rigid headstock on a monoblock base. Swing over the bed is 650 mm.
The turret carries 12 live-tool stations with BMT 55 holders, one size up from the BMT 45 of the AX M 200, and the driven tools turn at up to 4,000 rpm. As an M version it has no Y axis and no secondary spindle. A tailstock is standard in the table: MT 4, with a 130 mm quill, 620 mm of travel and 500 daN of thrust.
X travel is 250 mm and Z travel 625 mm, with rapids of 24 and 30 m/min. Accuracy on X and Z is given as 0.005 mm positioning and 0.003 mm repeatability. The installation is much deeper than for the 200 size: 4,225 mm wide by 4,220 mm deep and 2,210 mm high with doors open and conveyor.

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The main spindle is rated 36 kW and 385 Nm, with a top speed of 4,000 rpm. The spindle nose is A2-8 and the bore 75 mm.
02
Up to 420 mm in diameter and 600 mm in length, with a swing over bed of 650 mm. X travel is 250 mm and Z travel 625 mm. Bars up to 65 mm pass through the spindle.
03
The AX MY 300 adds a Y axis of ± 50 mm to the turret for off-centre milling and drilling. Capacity, spindle, turret and tailstock are otherwise the same.
04
BMT 55 tool holders on a 12-station live-tool turret. Maximum driven-tool speed is 4,000 rpm, the same as the main spindle speed.
05
4,225 mm of width and 4,220 mm of depth with doors opened and conveyor, and 2,210 mm of height. The AX M 200 is much shallower at 2,436 mm.
