We do not have a price for the HOLZ-HER EPICON 7235 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The HOLZ-HER EPICON 7235 is the middle machine of the EPICON 5-axis gantry series, with a Y machining dimension of 1,650 mm (65.0 in) and X lengths of 3,680 mm (144.9 in), 4,580 mm (180.3 in), 5,480 mm (215.7 in), 6,380 mm (251.2 in) or 7,280 mm (286.6 in). The Z stroke is 565 mm (22.2 in) and the workpiece height is 300 mm (11.8 in), which HOLZ-HER measures from the top edge of the vacuum cups.
Tooling capacity is the subject that sets this model's documentation apart. The brochure shows a traveling plate magazine for 18 tools as the base changer. A 24-tool magazine, a single magazine for saw blades up to 350 mm (13.8 in) and a 14-tool linear pick-up changer on the right side of the machine can be added. HOLZ-HER states that the EPICON has room for up to 97 tools depending on equipment, and mentions an optional shuttle changer with up to 40 positions for tool-heavy work such as window construction. The tool interface is HSK 63 F.
A liquid-cooled 5-axis head does the cutting. It is rated 13 kW (17.4 hp) across 1,000 to 24,000 rpm, with the A axis swinging +/- 180° and the C axis +/- 360°. The 18 kW (24.1 hp) PRO-TORQUE spindle is an upgrade. Drilling head L, with 21 spindles (15 vertical, 6 horizontal) and a sawing unit in X, is the standard drilling unit.
Three table concepts are described. The base is a console table with 6 pneumatically clamped consoles. The VISE LED table adds visual guidance for setting consoles and suction cups, and the MagnetX table moves the consoles in X and the suction cups in Y automatically, to a stated tolerance of ±1 mm. Vector speed is 131 m/min. When 2,100 mm (82.7 in) of Y is needed, the EPICON 7335 is the model to look at.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 1,650 mm (65.0 in) Y dimension with five X lengths from 3,680 mm (144.9 in) to 7,280 mm (286.6 in)
- A traveling 18-tool magazine is shown as the base changer, expandable with 24-tool, saw-blade and 14-tool linear magazines
- MagnetX table positions consoles and suction cups automatically with a stated tolerance of ±1 mm
- Liquid-cooled 13 kW (17.4 hp) 5-axis head with HSK 63 F interface and a 1,000 to 24,000 rpm range
- Drilling head L with 21 spindles and an X sawing unit is standard
Limitations
- Vector speed is 131 m/min, below the 142 m/min listed for the smaller EPICON 7135
- The 18 kW (24.1 hp) PRO-TORQUE spindle, the VISE LED table and the automatic tables are upgrades, not part of the base machine
- Standard vacuum supply is a single 100 m³/h dry-running pump; additional pumps are optional
- Y dimension is 1,650 mm (65.0 in); panels that need more width call for the EPICON 7335 with 2,100 mm (82.7 in)

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The base changer in the brochure is a traveling plate magazine for 18 tools. A 24-tool traveling magazine, a single magazine for saw blades up to 350 mm (13.8 in) and a linear pick-up changer for 14 tools can be added. HOLZ-HER says the EPICON offers space for up to 97 tools depending on application and equipment, and describes an optional shuttle changer with up to 40 positions.
02
It is an automatic machine table. The consoles move synchronously in X and the suction cups are positioned individually in Y, with a stated positioning tolerance of ±1 mm. Frame clamping elements and standard suction cups can still be placed on it and used in manual mode.
03
Machining dimensions are 1,650 mm (65.0 in) in Y and 3,680 mm (144.9 in) to 7,280 mm (286.6 in) in X, in five steps. The Z stroke is 565 mm (22.2 in) and the workpiece height is 300 mm (11.8 in).
