Overview
The HOLZ-HER EPICON 7135 is a 5-axis gantry CNC machining centre for panel, solid wood and composite work, with 1,500 mm (59.1 in) of machining dimension in Y and a choice of five lengths in X, from 3,680 mm (144.9 in) to 7,280 mm (286.6 in). It has the narrowest table in the EPICON series: the EPICON 7235 reaches 1,650 mm (65.0 in) in Y and the EPICON 7335 reaches 2,100 mm (82.7 in).
The smaller bridge is also the quickest. HOLZ-HER lists a vector speed of 142 m/min here, against 131 m/min for the EPICON 7335. It is the one EPICON whose standard drilling head is the 14-spindle unit, with 10 vertical and 4 horizontal spindles plus a sawing unit in X. Heads with 21 or 31 spindles are options.
The cutter unit is a gimbal-mounted, liquid-cooled 5-axis head rated 13 kW (17.4 hp) and running from 1,000 to 24,000 rpm. Its C axis rotates +/- 360° and its A axis +/- 180°. For heavy solid-wood cuts there is an optional 18 kW (24.1 hp) head with PRO-TORQUE technology, which HOLZ-HER describes as having mechanical brakes on the A and C axes. Z travel is 565 mm (22.2 in) and the machining height is 300 mm (11.8 in), so tall carcass parts and stair components clear the head.
Look closely at the tool changer when configuring. The maker's table puts every changer in the options column: an 18- or 24-position traveling disk changer, a single pick-up for a 350 mm (13.8 in) saw blade and a 14-position linear pick-up changer. The standard table has 6 consoles, 16 stops and 4 charging aids, held by a 100 m³/h dry-running vacuum pump. The VISE-LED and SynchroDrive tables are upgrades.
