Overview
The HNK HKDB-150F(1.3Mx16M) is the largest duplex boring machine HNK lists. Two columns with Ø150 mm (5.9 in) spindles travel 16,000 mm (629.9 in) along a fixed table of 1,300 x 16,000 mm (51.2 x 629.9 in).
Every maximum of the two HKDB series meets in this model: the longest travel, the widest table and the strongest spindles, each driven by a 37/45 kW (49.6/60.3 hp) motor on a cont/30min basis. What it is built for follows from that. Think of marine diesel engine frames and bedplates, large compressor and pump baseplates, wind-turbine main frames and steel-mill housings: long, heavy, roughly symmetrical parts with rows of bores and faces on both flanks.
On parts like these the two-column layout does more than halve the time. HNK states that the columns can travel simultaneously or independently, and that the long fixed-table stroke minimizes set-up time. Opposite bearing seats are bored from both sides in one clamping, then the columns separate to drill and tap their own flange patterns.
