Overview
The Doosan DBM-110L is a CNC horizontal boring machine with a 110 mm spindle, travels of 3,500 mm in X, 2,000 mm in Y and 1,250 mm in Z, and a 1,400 x 1,250 mm CNC rotary table rated for 12,000 kg. DN Solutions, which traded as Doosan Machine Tools until 2022, does not show the DBM-110L in its current lineup and it may be an older model, so most readers will be weighing up a second-hand machine.
The proportions say what it is for. X travel is two and a half times the 1,400 mm side of the table, so a long fabrication that overhangs the table can still be bored at both ends in one clamping. Y of 2,000 mm sets the tallest face that can be reached. Beside the 1,250 mm of Z the table lists a W-axis of 700 mm. On boring mills W is usually the feed-out of the boring spindle itself, but the table does not say which element it moves here, so check it on the machine.
The spindle runs to 3,000 rpm on a 37 kW drive. For a 110 mm boring spindle that is a range for boring bars, facing heads and large face mills, not for small cutters in aluminium. No torque figure, taper or tool magazine is listed, so the pull at low speed and the tooling the machine accepts have to come from its own documentation.
Control is listed as Fanuc 31iB5 or Siemens SINUMERIK 840D sl. A given machine has one or the other, and that decides post-processors and operator training. The machine weighs approx. 30,000 kg and the rotary table takes up to 12,000 kg of workpiece, so foundation, crane capacity and access for delivery are part of the decision from the start.
