We do not have a price for the Hedelius FORTE 50 Single 1120 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Hedelius FORTE 50 Single 1120 is a 3-axis travelling column machining centre in the smallest FORTE size: 1,120 mm (44.1 in) of X travel over a fixed table, with 550 mm (21.7 in) in both Y and Z. The column moves and the workpiece stays put, so the 1,300 x 550 mm table can be loaded to 800 kg (1,764 lb) without the load changing how the axes behave.
A fixed table that is longer than the X travel is the point of the design. The table has five 18 mm T-slots at 100 mm spacing, and the spindle distance to the table runs from 120 to 670 mm, so tall fixtures or a vice on a riser still clear. Hedelius describes the table as heavy-duty and the travelling column as machine casting. Direct measuring systems are standard on this model.
Spindles in the data sheet are the 40-size units used across the small Hedelius machines. SK40 / BT40 at 14,000 rpm comes with 117 Nm and 22 kW or with 183 Nm and 29 kW. HSK A63 comes at 18,000 rpm with 136 Nm and 35 kW or at 14,000 rpm with 22 kW. The product page also lists a 24,000 rpm HSK A63 spindle with 123 Nm and 30 kW. Feed force is given as 25,000 N at most, and all three axes run at 40 m/min.
Hedelius suggests optional zero-point clamping systems to cut tooling times, and names a 3D infra-red measuring sensor among the other options. Tools up to 300 mm long and 5 kg are changed in ca. 9 s chip to chip. The standard machine weighs 5,900 kg (13,007 lb) and is 2,650 mm wide for transport.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Fixed 1,300 x 550 mm table for 800 kg (1,764 lb); the column travels, the workpiece does not
- 1,120 mm of X in a machine that is 2,650 mm wide for transport
- Feed force of up to 25,000 N with 40 m/min feeds on X, Y and Z
- Direct measuring systems as standard, positioning accuracy A=6 µm/1,000 mm to ISO 230-2
- Spindles from 22 kW at 14,000 rpm to 35 kW at 18,000 rpm, with a 183 Nm option for steel
Limitations
- Three axes only: there is no rotary or swivel axis in the data sheet
- Y and Z travel are 550 mm each, which limits wide plates and tall parts
- The data sheet gives theoretical tool capacities starting at 55 while the product page speaks of 65 tools as standard, so the magazine size needs confirming
- Tool length is limited to 300 mm and tool weight to 5 kg

Frequently Asked Questions
01
X is 1,120 mm (44.1 in), Y is 550 mm and Z is 550 mm. The fixed table has a clamping area of 1,300 x 550 mm with five 18 mm T-slots at 100 mm spacing and carries 800 kg (1,764 lb). The spindle distance is 120 to 670 mm.
02
The table is fixed and the column carries all three axes, so the moving mass is the same whether the table holds a small vice or the full 800 kg. Hedelius gives feeds of 40 m/min on X, Y and Z and a feed force of up to 25,000 N for this model.
03
The data sheet lists SK40 / BT40 at 14,000 rpm with 117 Nm and 22 kW or with 183 Nm and 29 kW, and HSK A63 at 18,000 rpm with 136 Nm and 35 kW or at 14,000 rpm with 117 Nm and 22 kW. The product page adds HSK A63 at 24,000 rpm with 123 Nm and 30 kW.
04
Hedelius's own figures differ. The data sheet gives theoretical capacities of 55 / 80 / 125 / 170 / 235 / 319, and the product page speaks of 65 tools as standard. Ask for the magazine size in writing. Tool limits are 75 mm diameter with all places full, 300 mm length and 5 kg.
