How much does the Hedelius FORTE 11-4600 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Hedelius FORTE 11-4600 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Hedelius titles the FORTE 11-4600 "if you need a little more", and the extra is on every axis: 4,600 mm (181.1 in) of X, 1,100 mm (43.3 in) of Y and 1,005 mm of Z on a 3-axis travelling column machining centre whose fixed table carries 6,000 kg (13,228 lb).
The maker's own emphasis is on the tool change. Despite the 4,600 mm travel path, Hedelius says, tool changes take just a few seconds, because the 65-cavity magazine travels with the column. The data sheet figure is ca. 13 s chip to chip with a pre-selected tool, and it holds at either end of the bed. On a fixed-magazine machine of this length the spindle would have to run home for every tool.
The clamping area is 5,080 x 1,100 mm, with nine 18 mm T-slots. Split by a partition, it gives pendulum areas of 2,025 x 2,025 mm. This model has motor-activated automatic doors, and Hedelius points to vertical slat covers and good accessibility to the work area. The chip conveyor can discharge to the right or to the left.
Spindle options match the rest of the series. The standard SK40 mount comes with 14,000 rpm and 22 kW or 37 kW, the latter with 185 Nm. The optional HSK A63 mount comes with 18,000 rpm and 35 kW, or with 217 Nm and 50 kW at 15,000 rpm. Tools may be 330 / 390 mm long. Feed force is 27,000 N, feeds are 40 m/min, and direct measuring systems are standard. The machine weighs 27,000 kg (59,524 lb) and is 3,100 mm high for transport.

- 5,080 x 1,100 mm fixed table for 6,000 kg (13,228 lb)
- Motor-activated automatic doors
- Pendulum areas of 2,025 x 2,025 mm, each with 1,100 mm of Y

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The 65-cavity tool magazine travels with the column, and a double gripper preselects the next tool parallel to machining time. Hedelius states that despite a travel path of 4,600 mm, tool changes take just a few seconds; the data sheet gives ca. 13 s chip to chip.
02
A clamping area of 5,080 x 1,100 mm with nine 18 mm T-slots at 125 mm spacing, and a table load of 6,000 kg (13,228 lb). The table is fixed; the column carries X, Y and Z with travels of 4,600, 1,100 and 1,005 mm.
03
The data sheet lists 2,025 x 2,025 mm, two work areas of 2,025 mm along X. Each side has its own access through motor-activated automatic doors, so one area can be loaded while the other is machined.
04
SK40 is the standard mount, also usable with BT40 tooling according to the data sheet, at 14,000 rpm with 22 kW or 37 kW. HSK A63 is optional, at 18,000 rpm with 35 kW or 15,000 rpm with 217 Nm and 50 kW.
