How much does the Hartford VW-434 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Hartford VW-434 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Hartford VW-434 is a moving-crossbeam double-column machining center with a 4,000 x 2,100 mm (157.5 x 82.7 in) table. X travel is 4,050 mm (159.4 in), Y is 3,400 mm (133.9 in), Z is 1,000 mm (39.4 in), and the crossbeam's W axis adds 1,500 mm (59.1 in).
Hartford publishes less about the VW than about its other bridge machines. The spec table has ten rows and stops before the spindle motor. The gear spindle row reads 6,000 (opt.) rpm on a #50 nose, which marks the 6,000 rpm gear head as an option without naming a base spindle. Motor power and the standard spindle therefore have to come from Hartford's quotation.
What the table does establish is a strong work envelope for the footprint. The table carries 15,000 kg (33,069 lb), more than the 12,000 kg (26,455 lb) of the similar-length MW-433, and the W stroke of 1,500 mm is fixed, not an option. With Z and W combined, tall workpieces fit under the beam while the ram stays short over low ones.
The feature text on the VW page is that of the MW series: a Z ram on four linear guideways, a twin-ballscrew W axis with 0.03 mm positioning accuracy, and automatic universal, 90 degree and extension heads. Tools are BT-50 in a magazine of 32, or 40 or 62.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- W axis of 1,500 mm (59.1 in) as the listed stroke
- 15,000 kg (33,069 lb) table load on a four-metre table
- Y travel of 3,400 mm (133.9 in) over a 2,100 mm wide table
- Tool magazine of 32, 40 or 62 tools
- Automatic angular head options described on the page
Limitations
- No spindle motor row in the published table
- The only spindle row lists a gear head at 6,000 rpm as an option
- The page's feature text is written for the MW series, so details should be confirmed for the VW
- Z travel is 1,000 mm (39.4 in) with no longer option listed
