Hartford MW-643 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Hartford MW-643 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Hartford or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

A table of 6,000 x 3,000 mm (236.2 x 118.1 in) rated for 24,000 kg (52,910 lb) makes the Hartford MW-643 the mid-point of the wide MW machines. It is a moving-crossbeam double-column machining center with 6,000 mm (236.2 in) of X travel and 4,300 mm (169.3 in) of Y.

The counterbalance of the Z ram is a small detail that matters on a machine this size. Hartford uses a nitrogen accumulator weight system instead of a continuously pumped hydraulic counterbalance. According to the maker it lowers hydraulic tank oil temperature by 50% and saves more than 20% of the energy. Cooler oil means less heat fed into the ram and crossbeam over a long shift.

The crossbeam travels 1,200 mm in W, with 1,500 mm and 1,800 mm as options, and the ram 1,000 mm in Z, with 1,200 mm as the option. Between them the spindle nose can be brought close to a low plate or lifted clear of a tall housing.

Spindles are #50: gear at 6,000 / 8,000 rpm or hybrid at 10,000 rpm. Motors are 18.5 / 22 kW or, optionally, 30 / 35 kW (Cont. / 30 min). The magazine carries 32 tools, or 40 or 62, and automatic angular heads are offered with A/C indexing in 1 degree steps.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 24,000 kg (52,910 lb) table load on a 6,000 x 3,000 mm (236.2 x 118.1 in) table
  • Nitrogen accumulator Z counterbalance, with 50% lower oil temperature per Hartford
  • 4,300 mm (169.3 in) of Y travel for head work beside wide parts
  • W and Z travel options up to 1,800 mm and 1,200 mm
  • Automatic angular heads with 1 degree A/C indexing

Limitations

  • Angular heads index; they do not interpolate, by Hartford's description
  • Motor power of 18.5 / 22 kW as standard is modest for a 24-tonne table
  • Spindle speed peaks at 10,000 rpm
  • No accuracy figures for X, Y or Z are published

Best For

Large housings for wind, marine and mining gear units Wide machine bases and bolsters Long shifts where thermal stability of the ram matters Five-face machining up to 24,000 kg (52,910 lb)

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the table capacity of the Hartford MW-643?

24,000 kg (52,910 lb) average load on a table of 6,000 x 3,000 mm (236.2 x 118.1 in). Fixtures, risers and angle plates are part of that figure.

02 How is the Z axis of the MW-643 balanced?

With a Z axis nitrogen accumulator weight system. Hartford states that it reduces hydraulic tank oil temperature by 50% and saves more than 20% energy.

03 What travels does the MW-643 offer?

6,000 mm (236.2 in) in X and 4,300 mm (169.3 in) in Y. Z is 1,000 mm with a 1,200 mm option; W is 1,200 mm with 1,500 mm and 1,800 mm options.

04 What are the neighbouring models of the MW-643?

The MW-543 is one metre shorter, with 5,000 mm (196.9 in) of X and a 21,000 kg (46,296 lb) load. The MW-743 is one metre longer, with 7,000 mm (275.6 in) of X and a 27,000 kg (59,524 lb) load. All three share the 3,000 mm table width.
