Overview

The Hartford MVP-11 is the smallest MVP vertical machining center that can be built with either a #40 or a #50 spindle. Travels are 1,100 mm (43.3 in) in X, 600 mm (23.6 in) in Y and 630 mm (24.8 in) in Z, and the table is 1,270 x 600 mm (50.0 x 23.6 in) with a 1,000 kg (2,205 lb) average load.

The choice of taper changes the character of the machine. In #40 form the spindle list matches the smaller MVPs: 8,000 / 10,000 / 12,000 rpm by pulley and 10,000 / 12,000 / 15,000 / 20,000 rpm as a DDS unit, with BT40 or HSK A63 tooling and a 24-tool magazine expandable to 30 or 40. In #50 form the only spindle listed is a DDS at 10,000 / 12,000 rpm, the shanks are BT50, BBT, CAT or DIN, and the magazine is 24 tools, or 32.

Motor ratings differ too. The #40 row runs from 5.5 / 7.5 kW to 15 / 18.5 kW (Cont. / 30 min). For #50 the page prints 11 / 15 with 15 / 18.5 as the option, and omits the unit.

A direct-drive #50 spindle at 12,000 rpm on a machine this size is aimed at large-diameter cutters run fast in aluminium and at rigid toolholding in steel finishing, not at low-speed roughing; no gear head is listed for the MVP-11. Buyers who need that should look at the MVP-13, which adds a 6,000 rpm gear spindle in #50.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Available with a #40 or a #50 spindle on the same 1,100 x 600 x 630 mm platform
  • #40 DDS spindle up to 20,000 rpm; #50 DDS spindle at 10,000 / 12,000 rpm
  • Table of 1,270 x 600 mm (50.0 x 23.6 in) rated for 1,000 kg (2,205 lb)
  • Up to 40 tools with #40 tooling, per the A: 24 (30/40) entry
  • Y travel of 600 mm (23.6 in) covers the full table depth

Limitations

  • No gear-head spindle is listed, so the #50 version lacks a low-speed, high-torque option
  • The #50 magazine is limited to 24 tools, or 32
  • The #50 motor row is printed without a unit on the maker's page
  • Z travel of 630 mm (24.8 in) is unchanged from the smaller MVP-10

Frequently Asked Questions

01 Can the Hartford MVP-11 be ordered with a 50-taper spindle?

Yes. The spindle rows list both #40 and #50. For #50 the table gives a DDS spindle at 10,000 / 12,000 rpm with BT50 shanks (BBT, CAT and DIN as alternatives) and a tool magazine of 24, or 32.

02 What spindle speeds does the MVP-11 offer in 40-taper form?

8,000 / 10,000 / 12,000 rpm with the pulley spindle and 10,000 / 12,000 / 15,000 / 20,000 rpm with the DDS spindle. The #40 motor row lists 5.5 / 7.5 kW with 7.5 / 11 kW, 11 / 15 kW and 15 / 18.5 kW as options (Cont. / 30 min).

03 How large is the MVP-11 table?

1,270 x 600 mm (50.0 x 23.6 in), with five T-slots listed as 18 x 100 (5) mm and an average load of 1,000 kg (2,205 lb). Axis travels are 1,100 mm (43.3 in), 600 mm (23.6 in) and 630 mm (24.8 in).

04 What separates the MVP-11 from the MVP-10?

The MVP-10 is #40 only, has 530 mm (20.9 in) of Y travel and a 700 kg (1,543 lb) table load. The MVP-11 adds the #50 spindle choice, 600 mm (23.6 in) of Y, a 1,000 kg (2,205 lb) table and a 40-tool magazine option for #40.
