Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Hartford TGV-1612 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Hartford TGV-1612 is the largest TGV high-speed machining center and the only one with a #50 spindle option. Travels are 1,600 mm (63.0 in) in X, 1,200 mm (47.2 in) in Y and 700 mm (27.6 in) in Z, and the 1,800 x 1,300 mm (70.9 x 51.2 in) table carries 4,000 kg (8,818 lb).
By Y travel this is nearly a small double-column machine. A 1,200 mm (47.2 in) cross stroke takes bumper-size and dashboard-size mould halves that single-column verticals cannot reach across, and ten T-slots, listed as 18 x 125 (10) mm, give room to clamp them.
The spindle table is split by taper. With #40 the DDS spindle is listed as 10,000 / 15,000 / 20,000 (FANUC) rpm and the built-in spindle as 24,000 rpm, on BT40 or HSK A63 tooling with a magazine listed as A: 24 (30 / 40). With #50 the DDS spindle is 10,000 / 12,000 rpm and the built-in spindle 12,000 rpm, on BT50 tooling with a magazine listed as A: 32 (40 / 60).
Power follows the same split: 7.5 / 11 kW or optionally 15 / 18.5 kW for #40, and 15 / 18.5 kW with options of 18.5 / 22 kW and 22 / 26 kW for #50. The #50 version turns the TGV-1612 from a pure finishing machine into one that can also semi-rough large dies before the final passes.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 1,200 mm (47.2 in) of Y travel and an 1,800 x 1,300 mm (70.9 x 51.2 in) table
- 4,000 kg (8,818 lb) average table load
- #50 option with a 12,000 rpm built-in spindle and motors up to 22 / 26 kW
- #40 option with a 24,000 rpm built-in spindle
- Up to 60 tools with the #50 magazine, per the A: 32 (40 / 60) entry
Limitations
- Z travel is 700 mm (27.6 in), no more than on the smaller TGV-128
- The #50 spindles top out at 12,000 rpm, half the speed of the #40 built-in spindle
- No gear-head spindle is listed for low-speed roughing
- Taper, magazine and motor are linked, so the configuration has to be fixed at order

1,600 mm (63.0 in) in X, 1,200 mm (47.2 in) in Y and 700 mm (27.6 in) in Z. The table is 1,800 x 1,300 mm (70.9 x 51.2 in) with a 4,000 kg (8,818 lb) average load.

It can. The spindle nose row lists #40 and #50. For #50, Hartford gives a DDS spindle at 10,000 / 12,000 rpm and a built-in spindle at 12,000 rpm, BT50 shanks with BBT, CAT and DIN alternatives, and motors of 15 / 18.5 kW, 18.5 / 22 kW or 22 / 26 kW.
03
The ATC row is split by taper. For #40 it reads A: 24 (30 / 40), an arm-type magazine with 24 tools, or 30 or 40. For #50 it reads A: 32 (40 / 60), which means 32 tools, or 40 or 60. Tool diameter, length and weight limits are not published on the product page.

Under its MGPS standard, positioning accuracy within 8μm and repeatability accuracy within 5μm, with spindle run-out within 5μm. Optional thermal growth control on the three axes uses cooling tunnels in the feed system, which Hartford says increases axis accuracy by 15%.
