Haas VF-2YT

The Haas VF-2YT is an extended-Y version of the VF-2, stretching the Y-axis from 406 mm (16 in) to 508 mm (20 in) while keeping the same 762 mm (30 in) X-travel and 508 mm (20 in) Z-travel. That extra 102 mm of Y-travel opens up the work envelope significantly for parts that need more depth, and it's paired with a wider 914 x 457 mm (36 x 18 in) table that's 101 mm (4 in) wider than the standard VF-2.

Under the hood, everything else is pure VF-2: the same 22.4 kW (30 hp) inline direct-drive spindle turning at 8,100 RPM, 122 Nm (90 ft-lbf) of torque at 2,000 RPM, and the optional gearbox that pushes torque to 339 Nm (250 ft-lbf) at 450 RPM. Rapids hit 25.4 m/min (1,000 ipm) on all axes, and the standard 20-pocket carousel tool changer delivers the familiar 4.2-second tool-to-tool and 4.5-second chip-to-chip times.

The wider table is the real story here. At 457 mm (18 in) wide versus 356 mm (14 in) on the standard VF-2, you get noticeably more room for dual-vise setups, wider parts, and fixtures that need more lateral space. Table load capacity remains the same at 1,361 kg (3,000 lb). The machine weighs 3,539 kg (7,800 lb), the same as the standard VF-2, which suggests the extended Y comes from column and saddle design changes rather than added mass.

At a base price of around $79,000, the VF-2YT costs about $12,000-$13,000 more than a standard VF-2. For shops that regularly fight Y-axis limitations on the VF-2, that premium pays for itself quickly in reduced setup time and fewer operations.
