Goodway GV-1600

The Goodway GV-1600 carries 8,000 kg (17,637 lb) on a Ø1,600 mm (63.0 in) table and puts 23,900 Nm (17,629 lb-ft) of torque into the cut. Those two numbers, the highest in the GV-1 series, make it the heavy-work model of the range.

Maximum turning diameter is Ø1,800 mm (70.9 in) under a Ø2,000 mm (78.7 in) swing. The part can stand 1,300 mm (51.2 in) tall. X-axis travel is 1,600 mm (63.0 in), Z-axis travel 900 mm (35.4 in), and the cross rail moves 800 mm (31.5 in) on its W-axis so the ram can be kept short on low parts and still reach over tall ones.

Goodway attributes the torque to a 45 kW spindle motor driving a two-speed gearbox, and the table lists the motor as 37 kW (49.6 hp) continuous and 45 kW (60.3 hp) for 30 min. In wind-turbine and construction-equipment parts, the industries the maker names, the material is often a rough forging or casting with heavy scale and uneven stock. Torque at low table speed is what such cuts consume, and a rigid rail matters as much as the motor.

Sixteen BT50 tools are available in the changer. Milling, drilling and tapping need the M variation, whose tooling spindle is rated 11 kW (14.8 hp) continuous at 2 ~ 2,400 rpm. A buyer whose parts exceed Ø1,800 mm should look at the GV-2000 on the same design, and beyond that at the SUPER GV machines such as the GVH-2000, which carries 10,000 kg (22,046 lb).
