Campro NT-208S — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Campro NT-208S that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Campro or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

Two spindles and no live tools: the Campro NT-208S is a twin-spindle CNC lathe for parts that are turned on both ends. The main spindle carries an 8 in chuck and the sub spindle a 6 in chuck, on the box-way 30° slant bed of the NT series.

The arrangement is aimed at finishing a turned part in one handling. The main spindle, A2-6 with 11 / 15 kW (20 HP) and 4,200 rpm, does the first side. The sub spindle, A2-5 with 5.5 / 7.5 kW (10 HP) and 5,000 rpm, takes the part and presents the back for the second side. Both operations use one 12-station servo turret with □25 / Ø40 mm (O.D. / I.D.) tooling. Because the turret is not a live turret on this model, the work has to be pure turning, boring, grooving and threading. Cross holes and flats need the NT-208SM.

Capacity is Ø400 mm (Ø15.7 in) maximum turning diameter and 520 mm (20.4 in) maximum turning length. Z travel is 530 mm (20.8 in) and X travel 200 + 20 mm. Both axes rapid at 24 m/min. Bar up to the Ø52 mm draw tube hole can be fed through the main spindle.

There is no tailstock in the table, as the sub spindle occupies that end of the bed. Long shafts that need centre support are therefore a job for the NT-208 (Box), which has a tailstock with 460 mm (18.1 in) of travel.

Campro describes the NT bed as high quality cast iron with reinforced ribs. The machine is 4,254 × 2,256 x 1,842 mm (W x D x H), weighs 4,700 kg (10,361 lb) and has a power capacity of 25 kVA.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Main spindle with 8 in chuck plus sub spindle with 6 in chuck for both-ends turning
  • Sub spindle rated 5.5 / 7.5 kW (10 HP) at up to 5,000 rpm
  • 12-station servo turret serving both spindles
  • 24 / 24 m/min rapids in X / Z on a box-way slant bed
  • Ø400 mm (Ø15.7 in) maximum turning diameter

Limitations

  • No driven tools or C axis; milling needs the NT-208SM
  • No tailstock is listed, so long shafts cannot be supported on a centre
  • A single turret serves both spindles, so the two sides are cut one after the other
  • Sub spindle chuck is 6 in, smaller than the main chuck
06

Best For

Turned parts finished on both ends without re-chucking by hand Bar-fed production with cut-off to the sub spindle Bushings, fittings and flanges that need no milling Reducing two lathe operations to one machine

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the sub spindle of the NT-208S?

An A2-5 spindle with a 6 in hydraulic chuck, a 5.5 / 7.5 kW (10 HP) motor and a speed of 5,000 rpm. It faces the main spindle, which is A2-6 with an 8 in chuck, 11 / 15 kW (20 HP) and 4,200 rpm, so a part can be passed across for back-end turning.

02 Does the NT-208S have live tooling?

No. The table lists a servo turret with 12 stations and □25 / Ø40 mm (O.D. / I.D.) tooling, without driven tool data. The NT-208SM is the version with a servo live turret, a C axis and a 5,000 rpm maximum tool speed alongside the sub spindle.

03 What size parts fit the NT-208S?

Maximum turning diameter is Ø400 mm (Ø15.7 in) and maximum turning length 520 mm (20.4 in). Swing over the bed is Ø660 mm (Ø25.9 in) and over the carriage Ø460 mm (Ø18.1 in). The hole through the draw tube of the main spindle is Ø52 mm (Ø2.04 in).

04 How does the NT-208S differ from the NT-208 (Box)?

The NT-208 (Box) is a single-spindle lathe with a 10-station hydraulic turret and a tailstock. The NT-208S replaces the tailstock with a sub spindle and has a 12-station servo turret. It weighs 4,700 kg (10,361 lb) and needs 25 kVA.
