Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Goodway GLS-2800 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Goodway GLS-2800 is a Ø75 mm (3.0 in) bar capacity turning center on linear guideways, with a 3,500 rpm spindle and a choice of 720 mm (28.3 in) or 1,220 mm (48.0 in) of turning length. It is the smaller of two models on this bed; the GLS-3300 has the bigger bore and motor.
Goodway's table gives the spindle motor two windings. On the high-speed winding it is rated 11 kW (14.8 hp) continuous, on the low-speed winding 7.5 kW (10.1 hp) continuous, and both reach 15 kW (20.1 hp) on the 30 min. rating. In practice that means full short-term power is available at the low end for roughing as well as at speed.
The envelope is Ø440 mm (17.3 in) of turning diameter under a Ø760 mm (29.9 in) swing, 250 mm (9.8 in) of X travel and 750 mm (29.5 in) or 1,250 mm (49.2 in) of Z travel. A 30° slant bed carries the 12 or 10-station servo turret.
Live tooling on this series is faster than on Goodway's smaller GLS models: 6,000 rpm, on either a 12-station turret with ER32 collets or a 16-station turret with ER25. The optional Y-axis moves 100 mm (3.9 in), ±50 mm, and limits turning diameter to Ø400 mm (15.7 in). The optional sub-spindle passes Ø51 mm (2.0 in) bar, runs to 4,000 rpm (5,000 rpm optional) and is rated 7.5 kW (10.1 hp) continuous, 11 kW (14.8 hp) for 30 min. Goodway lists the tailstock as an option with 600 mm (23.6 in) of base travel.

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Maximum speed is 3,500 rpm. The motor has two windings: high-speed, rated 11 kW (14.8 hp) continuous, and low-speed, rated 7.5 kW (10.1 hp) continuous. Each is rated 15 kW (20.1 hp) for 30 min. Bar capacity is Ø75 mm (3.0 in).
02
Two optional turrets are listed. The 12-station turret takes ER32 collets and the 16-station turret takes ER25. Both run live tools at 6,000 rpm. The standard turret, without driven tools, has 12 or 10 stations.
03
The GLS-3300 passes Ø90 mm (3.5 in) bar, runs to 3,000 rpm and has an 18.5 kW (24.8 hp) 30 min. motor rating. The GLS-2800 passes Ø75 mm (3.0 in), runs to 3,500 rpm and is rated 15 kW (20.1 hp) for 30 min. Travels, swing and options are the same.
04
The optional Y-axis has 100 mm (3.9 in) of travel, ±50 mm from center. With it fitted, maximum turning diameter is Ø400 mm (15.7 in) instead of Ø440 mm (17.3 in). It is part of the Y and YS variations.
