Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Goodway GV-500 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Goodway GV-500 is a compact vertical turning center for disc-type parts on 12 in or 15 in chucks. It turns Ø620 mm (24.4 in) and 520 mm (20.5 in) high, and Goodway gives its footprint as 3.3 m2, small enough to stand in rows along an automotive line.
A vertical spindle suits these parts for a simple reason. Brake discs, flywheels and gear blanks are loaded flat, gravity seats them against the chuck face, and chips fall away from the cut. Loading by hand or by robot is quicker than on a horizontal lathe of the same swing.
Goodway lists the spindle motor with two windings. The low-speed winding gives 11 kW (14.8 hp) continuous and 18.5 kW (24.8 hp) for 30 min., with 525 Nm (387 lb-ft) and 883 Nm (651 lb-ft) of torque. The high-speed winding gives 15 kW (20.1 hp) continuous and 18.5 kW for 30 min., with 498 Nm (367 lb-ft) and 614 Nm (453 lb-ft). The feature list mentions a 3,000 rpm spindle, although the specification table itself has no speed row.
Both axes run on linear guideways at 24 m/min (945 ipm), with 350 mm (13.8 in) of X travel and 550 mm (21.7 in) of Z travel. The turret has 8 or 12 stations, and a dual-face turning holder lets both sides of a disc be cut at once to hold parallelism. A 12-station live tooling turret, 4.5 kW (6.0 hp) and 40 ~ 4,000 rpm, is optional. The standard control is FANUC Oi-TF Plus.

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Chuck size is 12 in or 15 in, swing Ø650 mm (25.6 in), maximum turning diameter Ø620 mm (24.4 in) and maximum turning height 520 mm (20.5 in). X-axis travel is 350 mm (13.8 in) and Z-axis travel 550 mm (21.7 in).
02
Two windings are listed. Low-speed: 11 kW (14.8 hp) continuous and 18.5 kW (24.8 hp) for 30 min., with 525 Nm (387 lb-ft) and 883 Nm (651 lb-ft). High-speed: 15 kW (20.1 hp) continuous and 18.5 kW (24.8 hp) for 30 min., with 498 Nm (367 lb-ft) and 614 Nm (453 lb-ft).
03
A Goodway tool holder that machines both sides of a workpiece at the same time. The maker says it ensures the parallel precision of the two surfaces, which is the critical feature on parts such as brake discs.
04
Yes, as an option: a 12-station live tooling turret with a 4.5 kW (6.0 hp) motor and a speed range of 40 ~ 4,000 rpm. Goodway says it gives the series milling, drilling and tapping capability together with C-axis control.
